RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Wait on customers arriving at the counter and help in the warehouse whenever possible.
- Handle counter inquiries including customers on account/COD/credit card and cash sales.
- File records in the appropriate files, such as:
1. Customer file
2. Driver Delivery Record file
3. Back Order and Special-Order file
4. Will Call file
- Photocopying
- Answer telephones
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Understanding of basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to work entire shift on concrete or another hard floor surface.
- Ability to work entire shift in extreme heat or cold.
- Ability to manually lift heavy boxes (minimum of 70 lbs.) of stock from shelves in warehouse, including reaching, lifting overhead, stooping down, crouching and climbing ladders.
- Ability to pull stock from, and to stock, conduit racks in warehouse or yard.
- Ability to safely operate materials handling equipment (forklift, pallet jacks, etc.) and wire measuring equipment.
- Ability to research Credit Memos.
- Ability to create Sales Registers and Cash Sale Receipts, manual or computer generated.
- Ability to photocopy
- Ability to accurately handle cash and cash transactions daily.
- Ability to operate ten-key calculator.
- Ability to write letters and numbers legibly.
- Math skills that include calculating percentages, decimals (.1, .01. .001) and discount multipliers.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical products and their functions.
- Ability to answer telephones and provide courteous, prompt and efficient service to customers.
- Ability to send and receive faxes.
- Possess a basic knowledge of computers and Internet (vendor websites).
- Ability to comprehend, read, and to communicate the English language orally and in writing.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
- Wait on customers who pick up merchandise, both charge and cash/credit card sales, and maintain will-call hold section.
- Create Sales Register and provide the customer with the product. Pull material off shelf. Fill the order.
- Make sure customer signs and dates Sales Register.
- Enter “Shipping Date” on Sales Register.
- Forward Sales Registers to office periodically throughout the day.
- Create or write manual Cash Sale Receipt for cash customer and fill the order.
- Make change when necessary. Enter amount received in “Cash Received” block on manual Cash Sale Receipt.
- Endorse check when necessary. Put check ABA number in “Cash Received” block on manual Cash Sale Receipt.
- Accept Cash Sale returns and write up Cash Sale refund.
- Keep counter area and displays clean and neat and assist in maintaining the entire location in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Perform general Inside Sales functions and quote material list.
- Assist with purchasing duties. When inventory is required, inform the Purchasing Agent (Inventory Controller).
- Ensure counter area displays are stocked.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous customer service and/or administrative experience is required (1+ years strongly preferred)–retail, hospitality, restaurant, etc. preferred, but office experience will be considered as well.
- Solar experience preferred but not required as training will be provided.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer service and handle multiple priorities at once is essential.
- Must have stellar multitasking and prioritizing ability, as well as a strong sense of urgency.
- Must have stellar communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be team-oriented and highly motivated with strong collaboration skills.
- Must be organized and possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Must show initiative, self-motivation, perseverance.
- Computer proficiency is required.
- Bi-lingual Spanish-English speaker preferred
