Job Description

Piqosity is a K12 education technology startup that seeks to pique every learner’s curiosity, to imbue them with the power to tackle the world's greatest challenges.

Our web app is an integrated assessments and personalized learning platform. Students come to us to strengthen their skills in core academic subjects like math and English and prepare for standardized tests like the ACT and SAT. We have a significant consumer-facing brand but also sell directly to schools and districts.

The Business Development Representative (BDR) reports to the Founder and will occupy an integral role in supporting our marketing, sales, and support efforts. Primary duties include:

  • Outbound sales to schools and tutoring companies
  • Supporting existing organization users
  • Product development and improvement

Candidate Profile and Required Skills

We seek a gregarious, self-motivated, and creative individual to support current customers and help generate new leads. Candidates must be passionate about education and have an interest in sales, marketing, technology, and publishing.

Three to five years of experience in sales in K12 education is preferable but former, well-connected educators at the Associate Principal level or higher could be a great fit. A college degree is required.

Technically, candidates must have excellent written, oral, and computer skills. Experience with online marketing and publishing tools like Freshworks CRM, Google Analytics, and Wordpress is a plus.

Initiative, creativity, and ownership are encouraged with every duty and role.

Delegation of Authorities

The BDR’s primary responsibilities can be defined within three categories:

Outbound Sales (80%)

  • Cold e-mailing and calling potential customers at schools and tutoring companies
  • Site visits to potential and existing customers

Supporting Existing Accounts (10%)

  • Ensure previously signed clients are happy and successful
  • Renew and upsell as applicable

Product Development (10%)

  • Participating in the app's product development
  • Troubleshoot and identify areas for improvement

Schedule and Compensation

The BDR should be based in Houston and plan to work out of our Rice Village office on most days. They should work normal business hours but be available to meet with clients whenever necessary.

This role commences on or around June 1, 2024.

Base salary is dependent on education and experience but will be in the range of $60k to $70k with excellent growth potential.

Commission from direct sales to schools and tutoring companies is in addition to the base salary. We expect the BDR's revenue to exceed 10x base pay for on-target compensation that exceeds $100,000.
