Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled Solar Technician to execute high-level O&M activities for solar PV systems. This role demands a high degree of expertise, independence, and leadership in managing both routine maintenance and complex problem-solving tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead & Manager Support: On a daily basis provide dispatch for service calls and maintenance projects, working under minimal supervision, and providing guidance to less experienced technicians. Must be willing to work hard, learn, ask questions, and gain experience over time.
- Field Oversight: Apprentice technicians may be assigned, which entails direct oversight and supervision. Requires providing oversight on a weekly basis, mentorship, and ensuring high standards of work and compliance with safety protocols.
- Electrical O&M Support: Perform complex tasks such as replacing and repairing AC/DC electrical hardware, retrofitting new electrical equipment, DAS installations and repair, electrical testing, performance investigations, OCPD testing, fuse, and circuit troubleshooting, etc. Participate in mandatory rotating Saturday (on call coverage) that all technicians rotate through each month or quarter.
- Comprehensive Evaluations: Conduct thorough energy assessments, work on detailed troubleshooting steps with OEM manufacturers, interact professionally with site owners and asset managers, and manage detailed documentation of work performed. Please note this will require but is not limited to; climbing ladders, interacting with utilities, site owners, and facility managers. May include operating high reach lifts.
- Travel: Be prepared for significant travel within CA, with a focus on maximizing operational efficiency and effectiveness on the road. PVCA’s focus is on technician safety so overnights to limit heavy travel during congestion times or if traveling to many locations.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a high-stakes environment.
- Expert understanding of electrical schematics and operational logistics.
- High proficiency with company provided phones and computers for job tracking, reporting, and communication.
- Current electrical technician certification: ongoing professional development is encouraged. Must maintain ET or Journeyman status.
- Valid California driver’s license with clean record.
Desired Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of experience in electrical construction or solar energy systems, with a focus on O&M.
- Great customer service skills; able to engage with clients effectively and ensure their satisfaction.
- Must be able to use a computer and interface with equipment. Basic training will be provided but you will be expected to be updating notes/photos on a daily basis after completing any service call.
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of electrical systems, with a passion for keeping systems operational.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.

Location: This role is primarily field-based but technician should be within 1 hour of Lemoore, CA w/ flexible travel but role will cover Central Valley & some cross over to SoCal area. PVCA has offices in Bay Area, Central Valley and Southern California.
