Position Overview
The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients, identifying sales opportunities, and providing technical expertise on piping systems. This role involves travel within a designated territory to meet with customers, assess their needs, and offer tailored solutions that align with their project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Generation: Proactively seek out and cultivate new business opportunities in the HDPE piping market. Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects to achieve sales targets.
- Customer Relationship Management: Establish and nurture strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and ensuring long-term satisfaction.
- Technical Expertise: Gain and maintain comprehensive knowledge of HDPE piping products, industry applications, and technical specifications. Educate customers on product benefits and recommend the best solutions for their projects.
- Territory Management: Manage an assigned sales territory, plan and prioritize customer visits, and conduct regular site visits to assess customer needs and project progress.
- Project Support: Work closely with the project management and engineering teams to ensure seamless product delivery, technical support, and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Market Research: Keep up-to-date on industry trends, competitor offerings, and market conditions. Provide feedback to management to refine product offerings and improve customer service.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and project progress in CRM software. Prepare regular reports for management on sales performance and market insights.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in outside sales, preferably in HDPE piping, industrial products, or construction materials. Familiarity with HDPE piping systems is a strong plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience in the industry.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and confidently.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
- Technical Aptitude: Comfortable learning and discussing technical details of HDPE products with customers.
- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively within assigned territory. Valid driver’s license required.
