Bilingual Qualified Mental Health Professional (CS)

Nurturing Arms Counseling Service is looking for someone who can assist children and adults to thrive who constantly battle with the feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, emotional and behavior issues. The QMHP main focus with helping adults is to assist them with learning functional and independent living skills, find community resources and provide support and/or linkage to support. The QMHP main focus with helping children is to provide trainings to increase appropriate communication skills, practice appropriate problem solving, anger management, social skills, and interpersonal interaction, etc.); The majority of the QMHP time will be spent providing services to adults and youth in the family home, and other community settings. We are looking for someone who has an unmatched passion for people, solid leadership/mentoring skills, and solution-oriented mindset.

Must have at least a bachelor’s in social work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or related field. Seeking a QMHP or Case Manager to provide community support and individual counseling to clients varying in age. Most clients live in or near South Dallas, Oak Cliff, East Plano, Richardson, Arlington, DeSoto, Garland and Fort Worth .* Must have valid driver’s license, can pass drug and background screen, must have own transportation, Cell phone, access to computer and internet, must have basic computer skills. (Laptop or access to a computer and printer outside of office use)*

Summary of Position: The Qualified Mental Health Professional – Community Services (QMHP-CS) is responsible for providing Targeted Case Management and Rehabilitative Services to youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families.

Job Environment: The Qualified Mental Health Professional (CS) will generally perform the job in the office, community, and home environment. In some instance the Qualified Mental Health Professional may be required to transport clients. In any circumstance, the environment for service provision will be as safe as possible.

Minimum Qualifications

QMHP-CS must be:

  • Has a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum number of hours that is equivalent to a major (as determined by the LMHA or MCO in accordance with §412.316(d) of this title (relating to Competency and Credentialing)) in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention.
  • (At least 2 years of experience providing therapeutic services for children/adolescents with behavioral challenges on an intensive level.
  • This is not a work from home or virtual position.
  • The sides of town that the job is located on is Dallas, Plano and Garland Texas. If you are not looking to work in these areas, please do not apply to this job.
  • This is a full time or part time position.
  • Hours of the position is from 3:00 PM 8:00 PM in the field.
  • Monday through Friday and most weekends.

About Your Role:

As a QMHP, you will be responsible for providing strengths-based trainings utilizing an evidence-based curriculum that will help develop and build skills that will help the adult or child have a more successfully existence. The QMHP will work with our Case Manager to provide the following services: Skill Training & Development, Medication Training & Support Services and Crisis Intervention Services. The QMHP will implement the Service/Treatment Plan that is focused on the adult or child and family needs and recognizing their strengths. The plan will address all the client’s needs that have been identified by the adult, family, child and any collateral information. Notes are due in within 24 hours of service date.

QMHP Responsibilities

As the QMHP your key responsibilities will involve:

  • Responsible for providing skill building training in the home or out in the community: one-on-one skills sessions at home, at the office, or in the community relating to goals and objectives using evidence-based practices and curriculums.
  • Notes due in within 24 hours of service date.
  • Provides support and crisis/emergency services for the child/family through face-to-face contact, phone contact or availability by an on-call system (all time spent on crisis assessment and planning, crisis linkage and follow-up, and stabilization must be documented as crisis hours)
  • Maintains all client documentation in the electronic record and write progress notes that are adhering to requirement set by the Texas Administrative Code.
  • Utilize effective listening skills to establish rapport with client, family members and other individuals close to the client; provide emotional support and encouragement and engage family members in the service process.
  • Maintains records in accordance with regulatory/agency standards. Enters data in a clear, accurate, and timely manner. Also, promptly submit documentation needed for the tracking of output/outcome measures. May be asked to assist in record review or qualitative review processes.
  • Responsible for keeping the family and team members informed on progress toward achieving Service Plan goals.
  • Provide assistances to clients with daily living tasks such as behavior management, counseling services to the client, budget management, independent transportation assistance, time management skills and other tasks to promote independent living.
  • Collaborates with court/probation, tribal/community agencies, families, and other natural support systems to ensure client’s needs are met. Develops a strong working relationship with community partners.
  • Assist clients in practicing effective communication, problem-solving and anger management techniques in their daily lives.
  • Participate in staff meetings, monthly trainings, company programs, professional development trainings as required.

Potential Staff Member must have own vehicle, cell phone and access to a computer/laptop at home (laptop or access to a computer and printer outside of office use).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
