Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing and developing modules in the company's proprietary application house
Job responsibilities
· Work closely with the product manager, business analyst, and development lead to facilitate software development and maintenance
· Enhancements and defect remediation to custom, proprietary Oracle packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
· Create ad hoc report extracts and data maintenance scripts as needed
· Automate and optimize processes
· Participate in code reviews
· Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code
· Build reusable components and libraries
· Collaborate with geographically distributed business and technical team members
· Rotating weekly shift-based batch processing production support and monitoring
KPIs:
· Success rate on implementations including completeness & quality of features, meeting timelines and budgets
· Proactively participate in geographically distributed development teams
· Ability in troubleshooting and solving technical problems
REQUIREMENTS: ·
10+ years of Oracle Database Development Experience through all development life cycle phases
· Has deep coding experience in Oracle PL/SQL
· Has strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with management and peers
· Does unit and integration testing with strong documentation skills
· Takes proactive ownership of work through full development lifecycle
· Has the ability to accurately estimate work requirements
· Is highly focused on committed delivery dates of work
· Has knowledge of the software development lifecycle and concepts such as Agile · Must be able to work during UK business hours, which includes overlap with US morning hours
· Oracle Scheduler integration for on-demand requirements ·
Ability to analyze and create high performance SQL queries over very large datasets
· Dynamic SQL and BULK Collection methodologies
· ETL functions using External tables, Oracle’s UTL_FILE package, and SQL Loader
· DDL and DML scripting
· LINUX shell scripting
· Database development IDE; Quest Toad for Oracle or other
· AWS Workspace development environment
· GitLab code repositories; SourceTree or other git tools
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills for the purpose of understanding complex technical issues and solutions
Nice to have:
· Knowledge of the industry standard CWR specification is a big plus
· Experience working with Globalscape EFT Advanced Workflow scripting is a plus
· Experience working with Crystal Reports is a plus
· UI PHP Object-oriented programming experience is a plus
· Knowledge of AWS technology is a plus
· Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and concepts such as Agile, SAFE, scrum, CI/CD, and DevOps
· Knowledge of coding best practices such as CI/CD, Cloud Security, DevOps
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Compensation Package:
- 1099 contract
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
