JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining and developing business opportunities and driving awareness of Hospice services and programs in the communities served.
REPORTS TO: Area Sales Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year of similar sales and marketing experience in the hospice industry is preferred.
- An enthusiasm for providing the best possible care to patients and their families
- Strong relationship building skills and a competitive spirit.
- Ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interprets instructions.
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing. Experience presenting to large groups a plus.
- Ability to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, reading data and figures, visual inspection of patients.
- Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle for on-the-job transportation, and evidence of insurance coverage as required by company policy.
- Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met:
- Requires minimal lifting of 10 lbs occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Prolonged periods of sitting with periodic kneeling, standing, stooping and walking, as well as communication by phone and in person.
- Travel will be required, by car.
- Both inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Work Monday through Friday may include on-call work weekends, evenings, and nights.
- Requires specific vision concentration for charting/documentation and computer work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Prolonged periods of sitting with periodic kneeling, standing, stooping and walking, as well as communication by phone and in person.
- Travel will be required, by car.
- Both inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Work Monday through Friday may include on-call work weekends, evenings, and nights.
- The employee may encounter stressful situations with patients and their families regarding end-of-life care. Frequent driving may be required.
- May be required to visit patients in areas that have been classified as high risk by local authorities. At times you may be required to serve patients outside your regularly assigned region of our service area.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS – HAZARD RISK:
Rarely – Exposure to blood, body tissues, and other potentially infectious fluids

Occasionally – Exposure to unpleasant odors as related to care of incontinent residents or wounds
Occasionally – Exposure to latex, plastic and/or materials which are used for personal protective equipment
Frequently – Exposure to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity
Occasionally – Exposure to microbial bacteria and other infectious agents inherent to care of ill patient
Frequently – Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, or smoking
RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Meets with Hospice patients and family members to present services provided by hospice.
- Conducts on-site meetings and presentations to physicians, hospitals, medical facility professionals and others.
- Provides educational office visits relating to Hospice care for physicians on a regular basis. Maintains exceptional rapport with referring physicians.
- Cultivates and maintains effective relationships within the professional community in healthcare settings.
- Demonstrates a determined, collaborative, and dedicated personality.
- Generates a regular stream of new business by focusing on consumer marketing, excellent customer service and lead follow up, referral marketing, community outreach and partnership development.
- Responds to new inquiries, phone/email leads, for service in a timely manner.
- Conducts in-home assessments in order to gain an understanding of client and family needs.
- Works with other team members such as care coordinators to ensure client satisfaction and changing needs.
- Develops new referral accounts and co-marketing with community partners in the local healthcare, elder care industry, assisted living facilities and senior organizations.
- Provides open and effective communication with clients, family members, executives, key players, caregivers and referral providers.
- Documents results and reports progress, successes and challenges during weekly team calls.
- Maintains an effective relationship with management, staff, and general public.
- Follows all company policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations and charged with reporting violations to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintains confidentiality of company information.
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times.
- Able to respond to change productively and handle additional projects as assigned.
- Able to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this job (with or without reasonable accommodation) without posing a specific or current risk of substantial harm to the health and safety of self and others.
- Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations and accreditation agency standards.
