Job Description
Doral is seeking a Director, Senior Director, or Vice President (depending on experience and credentials) for Asset and Performance Management of various facilities (Solar/BESS) in the pipeline throughout North America. This would include project support from the beginning of execution through the life of the facility. This is an opportunity to get in at the ground floor for establishing a program for asset management with an emphasis on performance management, asset optimization, and O&M operations with full empowerment to set up a team of a few individuals in the near term and configure this program to best align with the company’s goal over the long run. This position will report directly to the SVP, Project and Asset Management. This role will be fully remote with the ability to travel to project site as required.
Asset Optimization and Performance Improvement -
Continuously monitor the performance of the assets to ensure they meet or exceed expected output and efficiency targets.
Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for performance improvement.
Compare the performance of all the facilities against industry standards and benchmarks to identify areas for optimization.
Evaluate and implement new technologies and improvements to enhance the performance and efficiency of the assets.
Negotiations -
Negotiate O&M agreements, Asset Management, LTSAs, and Energy Management Agreements and build a strong relationship with all these entities.
High level partnership agreements with suppliers to facilitate ease of warranty management and spare parts acquisition across the fleet.
Leadership -
Lead and manage a team of third-party asset managers and O&M contractors.
Ability to build a program and a team of a few individuals and scale up as necessary, to increase and maintain operational efficiency across multiple asset classes but be a doer as and when the need arises.
Ability to resolve problems by diving into the complexities of the issues as the need arises.
Collaborate with other groups such as finance, FP&A, accounting, execution, legal, tax and other groups as needed.
Financial Management -
Manage budgets for asset operations, maintenance, and capital improvements, including any augmentation needs for BESS.
Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the profitability and ROI of the assets and optimization initiatives.
Owning the KPIs for all the operating assets.
Regulatory and Compliance Management -
Ensure all the assets comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards, and in particular NERC and FERC related compliance throughout the process.
Ensure compliance to permits, and other agreements such as PILOT, tax abatement, and EDAs.
Stakeholder Management -
Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing updates on asset performance, financial health, and strategic initiatives.
Oversee relationships with key vendors and service providers, ensuring high-quality service and favorable contract terms, and also minimizing downtime during warranty management
Plan local community events for continued engagement throughout the life of the asset.
Strategic Planning and Execution -
Develop and implement strategies to optimize the performance and value of the assets
Identify and mitigate risks associated with the operation and management of facilities.
Foster and maintain a vision for continual improvement and application of cutting-edge technologies and digital applications.
Keeping abreast of current market trends, technological developments, and strategies employed in the industry so the asset management program remains on the cutting edge.
Sustainability -
Promote and implement sustainability initiatives to improve the environmental impact of the facilities and provide feedback to the overall ESG program in place.
Support implementation of Agrivoltaics and other best practices pertaining to vegetation management and negotiate vegetation management agreements if separated from the O&M agreement.
Creating a comprehensive recycling and decommissioning plan for all the assets in alignment with the broader ESG goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university.
- Advanced degree while not required, is strongly preferred.
- 15 years of progressive experience with a majority within the renewable energy industry, and preferably in a leadership role currently and demonstrated a successful track record in operations, performance, and asset management services.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and ability to work independently with very little guidance.
- Comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of operations, performance engineering, and asset management.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
