Job Description

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

Under the authority of the Director Mental Health and Special Needs, the Coordinator of the Chisasibi Residential Resource Centre (CRRC) is assigned with the goal of providing professional assistance in the planning and the development of re-adaptation services for persons presenting conditions such as chronic mental illness or developmental challenges.

The holder of this position collaborates in the planning and ensures the organization, delivery and control of all activities and re-adaptation services in the CRRC within the mission, philosophy, goals and prescribed programs of the Cree Board Health and Social Services of James Bay.

He/she ensures the line management of human, material, financial and information resources of the services within his/her jurisdiction. The responsibilities for programming, professional supervision and evaluation are carried out in collaboration and respective of the functional responsibility of the Director

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

· Proposes a structured organization of residential, occupational and rehabilitation services to be provided at the Chisasibi Residential Resource Centre (CRRC) within the provincial ministry of Health and Social affairs, norms, and policies.

· In collaboration with families within Chisasibi and other concerned communities, leads the planning of services for persons with conditions such as chronic mental illness or developmental challenges.

· Oversees the conceptualization, development, planning and implementation of ongoing and future services offered by the CRRC.

· Leads the design, development, elaboration, selection, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and control of policies, programs, standards, methods, rules, protocols and procedures within the facility.

· Supports the strategic reflection, actions and decision-making for the CRRC and collaborates with the Director Mental Health and Special Needs and the Pimuhteheu management team to ensure the service quality and standards of practices are maintained at the highest level, for our patrons.

· Ensures the development and incorporation of supervision mechanisms, standards and quality assurance systems into programming (manuals) prior to the delivery of new services and programs.

· Is responsible for the day to day operations with the community of Chisasibi and potentially other concerned communities.

· Collaborates with family members regarding best practices, present schedules, and developmental needs; which can potentially be incorporated as part of the care, for their loved one(s) residing in the CRRC.

· Collaborates in committees and working groups related to the continuous quality improvement of the care provided in the CRRC facility.

· Evaluates the outcomes of programs, activities and care to determine its pertinence, effectiveness, efficiency, impact and sustainability for the CRRC.

· Ensures the efficient people management and ensures the financial management of the Unit.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and experience

· Bachelor degree in Social Work or Psycho-Education and 3 years experience in front-line supervision or administration in mental health, social services or re-adaptation environment.

Or

· CEGEP Diploma in Social Work, Developmental Service Worker or Psycho-Education, prior experience in CBHSSJB social services and 5 years experience in mental re-adaptation team leadership.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong record in operational line management, and human resources and financial management;
  • Knowledge of the MSSS laws and regulations for Mental Health Re-adaptation services is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Cree Culture is an asset;
  • Proven ability or potential to be effective in the Cree Nation;
  • Knowledge of, or ability to grasp the issues and context that relate to First Nation Social and mental heath services;
  • Computer literate;
  • Awareness of available resources and ability to know when to seek out support groups;
  • Ability to recognize and understand the symptoms of mental health and the treatment required;
  • Willingness to accept his/her position as a role model and behave accordingly at all times;
  • Solutions oriented respecting people needs and expectations.

LANGUAGE

· Fluent in English;

· Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

OTHER

· Willing to travel in the nine (9) communities.

· Willing to be on-call.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $80,052.00-$104,067.00 per year
