Job Description
The Director of Forecasting, Modeling and Analytics is a key leader in EPE’s engineering organization, and will be responsible for development and implementation of forecasting principles related to mobility, electric vehicle adoption, building and in home electrification adoption, demand side management adoption, DER (distributed energy resources) adoption as well as electrical demand, all of which at a customer level, circuit level, substation level and regional levels. The Director of Forecasting, Modeling and Analytics will demonstrate to EPE’s utility client's expertise in load and generation forecasting principles, as well as expertise in developing forecast models that reflect the adoption of various grid technology trend, all in support of electric distribution and transmission planning and operations needs. The Director of Forecasting, Modeling and Analytics will create and develop new EPE service offerings around forecasting and adoption modeling, as well as data analytics, that align with EPE’s utility client needs as well as industry gaps and trends. The Director of Forecasting, Modeling and Analytics will work and collaborate with world class teams across EPE’s Utility Business Unit, such as distribution planning, transmission planning, electrification, and digital transformation, all of which rely on forecasting models to support client needs. In addition, the Director of Forecasting, Modeling and Analytics will work very closely with EPE’s Software Unit, to build strategies and roadmaps to productize forecasting and modeling within EPE’s software solution platform. The Director of Forecasting, Modeling and Analytics will support client business development activities for existing and future potential EPE utility clients. Responsibilities will also include engagement with external counterparts, partners and stakeholders to ensure the Company is leveraging and contributing to industry best practices
How you can make an impact:
- Develop forecasting principles data requirements and frameworks for electric load and generation on distribution systems
- Develop adoption modeling principles, data requirements and frameworks for grid edge technology trends including but not limited to, electric vehicles, DER, home and buildings electrification,
- Develop a roadmap and a clearly defined and detailed listing of consulting services and product offerings for forecasting, modeling and analytics
- Work closely with business development team and marketing team members to meet new clients, solutions with them regarding their forecasting needs and revisit back with proposed solutions and services
- Collaborate with peers, managers, engineers to ensure successful delivery and execution of utility client projects.
- Oversee, manage and contribute to the development of line of business technical proposals and bid responses to client projects and initiatives.
- Recommend hiring and resource strategies to sustain and improve line of business excellence and top performance.
- Play a leadership role across the Company to ensure the effective coordination of strategies, growth plans and success.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to leverage the Company's strengths and opportunities to motivate cross-functional sales, growth and expansion of client service offerings.
- Participate in industry forums to support the Company's position contributing to industry best practices in decarbonization, clean energy transition and grid modernization.
- Leadership skills demonstrated by providing strategic direction to organizations, developing staffing and training strategies and ensuring successful client project delivery and satisfaction.
- Creativity, appropriate risk taking and strong innovation focus. Strength and ability to make strategic decisions with limited information while managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of utility financial and business models, distribution systems, DER planning, transmission, generation, DR and current state of industry technology best practices.
- Strong financial management, personnel management, communication, business negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of both real-time and support computer systems for accessing power system information, customer information, and other operating data.
- Knowledge on vendor and publicly available data for improving forecasting and analytics models
