Job Description

RILA is growing! APPLY AT https://app.builtforteams.com/rila/jobs/6ec768f4

At the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), we convene decision-makers, advocate for the retail industry, and promote operational excellence and innovation. Our aim is bold but simple: to elevate a dynamic industry by transforming the environment in which retailers operate.

We are a dynamic, collaborative, team-oriented trade association in Washington, DC. Our employees are passionate about customer service and supporting our members and each other, and we are adding to the team!

We seek a Digital Design Coordinator interested in elevating our processes, organization, and member experience. This is not a job but a professional journey. The position's responsibilities will come naturally if a candidate has the proper foundation of skills and an eagerness to learn and be part of a fun and talented team. There are challenges and changes along the way, but we have a team eager to face them all together.

What we are looking for:

As one of our in-house creative service experts, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing visually compelling graphics, web layouts, and marketing materials that align with our organization's branding and marketing strategies. A successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, passion, excitement, an eye for detail, and a solid creative vision.

At RILA, who you are means more than what you can do.
Our culture is built to support those who are:
  • Driven
  • Curious
  • Honest
  • Compassionate
  • Open-minded
  • Patient
  • Determined
  • Accountable
  • Kind
  • Fun

That said, skills matter because our members, partners, and team deserve the best, but we don't need you to be the best at everything because we do our best to fill each other's gaps.

We do ask that you be significant in a few areas:
  • A top-tier communicator with both written and verbal skills.
  • A commitment to customer and staff service.
  • Solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to present design ideas and concepts for campaigns and projects.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Good understanding of professional web design, digital media, and print design practices and standards.
  • Knowledge of video development and proficiency in using video editing software is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and evolve.
  • And the most essential skill of all - "figure it out."

A preview of position responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize and actualize impactful graphics tailored for both digital and print mediums, spanning websites, social media, advertising materials, and marketing collateral.
  • Engage closely with the marketing team to grasp design requisites and harmonize them with the brand identity and overarching marketing objectives.
  • Work with creative services staff and department content managers on website content/graphic updates, site improvements, and design standards.
  • Support process documentation and establish process flows to cross-train internal teams.
  • Track and analyze the performance of design pieces (emails, ads, etc.) to determine best practices and future changes and improvements.
  • Deliver innovative design and creative ideas to push the boundaries of digital content.

What you will get from us:

At RILA, you will find humans, real people. We do our best to learn and grow each day, driven by a passion for building leaders and cultivating an inclusive and collaborative culture. We promise that the work you do will matter and will have an impact on the vast retail industry and the communities our retailers serve. You will have an opportunity to grow professionally and develop new skills and we will challenge and support you in your professional journey. Consider becoming part of the RILA team - check out some RILA reviews here!

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or related work experience is necessary.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience managing multiple creative projects (digital assets, web, design, print, video, events/experiential).

  • Understanding of creative process, brand standards, and print and digital deliverables.
  • Photography, video, and basic animation skills preferred; understanding of or interest in user experience design (UX) preferred.
  • Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • $52,000 starting annual salary with overtime opportunity.
  • Flexible and hybrid office environment (3 days in office).
  • Affordable Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage (FSA/HSA options available).
