The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for performing in-process inspection of batches made in production and activities related to the Technical Lab. In addition, they are responsible for any other task the Technical Lab Manager deems necessary.
This is a 1st shift role, Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, with possible overtime on weekends. This person will train on 2nd shift, Monday - Friday, from 3:00pm - 11:30pm and move to 1st shift after training.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain a clean and organized lab
- Print batch tickets and drum tags for production
- Ensure that all batch tickets have been completely filled out
- Enter batch information into the Word and Excel files
- Scan batch tickets and maintain electronic database
- Issue corrections for material not meeting viscosity specifications
- Perform all required testing for production batches as required on the batch ticket
- Write hold tickets for nonconforming batches and materials
- Perform 3 and 30 day retain viscosity checks
- Manage retention of retains
- Perform final inspection of finished goods as needed
- Report updates to next shift’s Lab Technician
- Inspect incoming raw materials, if needed
- Perform Dock Audits
- Train new Lab Technicians as needed
Skills / Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficient in SPC & SAP
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Good knowledge of chemistry and math
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Chemistry or related field preferred.
Experience:
2 years of quality experience required.
