Job Description

This position is eligible for telework two (2) days a week, in accordance with DGS's Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the general supervision of the Supervising Architect, the position is responsible for the development of regulations in the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) under the authority of the Division of the State Architect and for the development and administration of Architectural Codes and Policies, Sustainability program, for K-12 public schools and community colleges and plan review in order to enforce and promote facility sustainability in accordance CALGreen Code, the Energy Code and with all other parts of Title 24, the California Building Standards Codes and other related technical resources.

This position may be downgraded to Associate Architect for recruitment purposes. If downgraded, duties will be adjusted accordingly.

Essential functions include the requirement to work in the office for a minimum of three (3) days per week up to a maximum of five (5) days per week depending on operational needs.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Licensure as a California Architect is REQUIRED. No exceptions.
  • LEED AP BD+C or LEED Green Associate Credential

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment
