JOB SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to identify opportunities in build strategic relationships, and secure profitable work for the firm.

The Business Development professional is responsible for creating the business development strategy for an assigned region or as otherwise directed. Is responsible for the execution of the strategy to build a pipeline of new business for AG|CM. A thorough understanding of the services offered is required. Must be able to communicate the value of those services to potential clients and team partners. Represents AG|CM in a positive and professional manner while being involved in various civic and professional organizations.

May collaborate in the creation of responses to RFPs/RFQs/SOQs, including working with AG|CM staff when a team approach will be needed to complete the proposal. Review of final proposal by Business Development Professional may also be needed prior to presentation or dissemination outside of AG|CM.

May supervise and/or mentor junior level business development/marketing/proposal writing personnel and/or consultants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of substantial, broad, and demonstrated business experience in Business Development and/or Account Management with a Construction Management, or A/E/C firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully expand new business and grow existing business within A/E/C markets
  • Engaging and highly effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills that cultivate and grow lasting business relationships, both internally and externally
  • Highly collaborative leadership style with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to ever-changing situations
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and lead a diverse staff to deliver “best-in-class” services to our clients
  • Exhibit strong business acumen, skills, maturity, and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Highly developed organizational and planning skills, time management skills, and written/oral communication skills
  • Have a positive outlook, be motivated, and strong initiative
  • Work autonomously and be self-driven
  • Work after-hours, and on weekends as required
  • Must have a dependable vehicle and be able to travel, such as to prospects, clients, job sites, and conferences

EDUCATION:

  • Undergraduate Degree or experience equivalent to Bachelor's Degree

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current Texas Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or similar industry degree highly preferred. Potential consideration will be given for degree majors in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related major
  • Master’s Degree in the above majors is a significant plus
  • Demonstrated network of developers, owners, owner’s representatives, architects, engineers and other professional services relationships available to create new business opportunities
  • Demonstrated community involvement and activity with industry associates, civics, and/or trade association groups
  • Proven experience in strategy development and long-range planning within a construction management firm for Business Development is a significant plus

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Understand AG|CM’s market and competition
  • Identify opportunities, develop relationships, and secure profitable work for AG|CM
  • Create a business development strategy for the region with measurable goals
  • Develop and be accountable for the Business Development budget
  • Communicate AG|CM’s services and their value to others
  • Actively participate in strategic, relevant organizations that support the business development strategy; be the representative of AG|CM in the region
  • Setup, attend and represent as AG|CM at conferences, meetings and other opportunities for business development
  • Work evenings or overnight travel approximately 25%
  • Research/Develop innovative strategies of Selling/Marketing
  • Works independently or on a team to produce successful campaigns to attract or retain client relationships.
  • Remain current with industry information about potential opportunities and clients
  • Keep an open mind and think critically about possible opportunities
  • Successfully manage multiple, multi-faceted, and complex client relationships in a fast-paced environment
  • Work to develop teaming strategies and teaming partners to support new and current business lines
  • Establish long-lasting relationships with community leaders/players in the region
  • Periodically visit job sites to gather information relevant to selling AG|CM’s services to future clients
  • Update and maintain proposal resources
  • Work in conjunction with marketing on all proposal materials and response submission materials
  • Complete go/no-go steps within the proposal process and draft cover letter if “go” is decided
  • Attend proposal meetings
  • Review proposals to ensure client’s wants/needs are addressed and ensure that VP’s comments from final review are captured
  • Assist in preparation of interview materials and run interview prep with team
  • Schedule and run debrief, document feedback, and distribute to BD Director and Regional VP
  • Maintain relationships with clients even after job is complete
  • Understand synergy of relationships, clients and supported business lines as they cross regions
  • Develop business internally to keep team excited about AGCM’s progress and facilitate a team atmosphere
  • Protect organizations value by keeping company and client information confidential
  • Demonstrate positively AG|CM’s mission, vision, value statements, reputation, and code of ethics, standards, policies and procedures internally and throughout the marketplace
  • Performs other duties as assigned
