Our client, specializing in global supply chain solutions within the transportation and logistics industry is seeking a Business Development Manager. The company provides a range of services including domestic and international air and ground transportation, ocean freight, comprehensive documentation, and truckload brokerage.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Develop new domestic and international ocean and airfreight business.
- Analyze customer needs to create logistics solutions and uphold a commitment to service excellence.
- Provide comprehensive transportation solutions, including warehousing and distribution services.
- Maintain existing business volumes while prospecting for new opportunities within the assigned sales territory.
- Successfully market transportation services, as well as warehousing and distribution services, to achieve revenue goals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan weekly sales calls and create a target sales list.
- Solicit new business opportunities and maintain current business relationships.
- Increase revenues and improve profitability within the assigned territory.
- Assist with Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for customer instructions.
- Identify new business opportunities through cold calling and follow up on all sales leads.
- Participate in pricing analysis and prepare/executive sales presentations.
- Attend sales meetings and entertain key customers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong experience in the transportation industry/sales with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Proven record of sales success and an existing customer base with an established network of contacts.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree required and/or minimum of 5 years of related work or industry-related experience.
- Must have freight forwarding experience.
- International experience is helpful, but not required.
SPECIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize appointments, meeting reporting deadlines.
- Excellent networking skills essential, along with participation in industry-related organizations.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
- $69,000-$95,000 plus commission
- Remote role, reporting to a local branch
