Job Description

In cooperation with the Communications Coordinator, the Digital Media Specialist will increase volume of customer contact through marketing and communications and develop a strong consumer and product awareness for all Head Start, Early Head Start and ECI programs.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field of study

Skills

  • Minimum of one year relevant experience creating engagement collateral required
  • Experience managing websites and working with web content management systems (CMS) required
  • Experience in working with Adobe CS, including, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, and Adobe After Effects required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite required
  • Experience using animation software for videos preferred
  • Experience with implementing media/public relations strategies preferred
  • Experience producing web-optimized audio/video preferred
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, be self-directed, and have keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and mange projects
  • Must be service oriented and able to work with individuals to meet their varying needs
  • Effective in the areas of communication and collaboration required
  • Demonstrated ability to use a wide variety of technology applications
  • Samples of work or portfolio should be provided in application. If selected for an interview, candidates will be asked to prepare materials for an assigned task, showing execution of communication and/or graphic/video design skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including PC and/or Apple computer systems; Digital camera equipment; Video camera equipment; Printers/Copier.
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more); packing, loading, and unloading for conferences and events
  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
  • Regular Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assists the Coordinator to manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of electronic communications, including, but not limited to, newsletters, videos, e-newsletters, social media outlets and the Head Start and ECI websites
  • Assists the Head Start staff in developing and designing strategic communications platforms to inform, educate, and motivate both internal and external audiences
  • Coordinates with other ESC and Head Start staff to produce digital and print materials for marketing, flyers, and support materials
  • Assists Coordinator in creating and conducting online surveys and analyzing/organizing data from these surveys
  • Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly
  • Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  • Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
  • Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
  • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
  • Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
  • Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadline
  • Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  • Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
