Position Overview
The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring all IT core systems, applications and end user systems run within established parameters. The Systems Administrator is required to interact with management, mentor department members and assist system users. The Systems Administrator reports directly to the IT Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- System Management: Manage and maintain company servers, networks, and systems including virtualized environments, operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices to ensure seamless communication across the organization, intrusion detection systems (IDS)
- Contribute to internal and external IT Security audits and enforce security policies and conduct regular system vulnerability assessments and patch management to safeguard company data.
- Design, implement, and regularly test backup and disaster recovery plans to protect critical systems and data.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for system issues, network disruptions, and user access problems, acting as a point of escalation for complex issues.
- Work closely with the IT team and other departments to support ongoing projects, improve existing systems, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Keep detailed records of systems, configurations, network topologies, and procedures to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role, with a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems management.
- Expertise in operating systems (Linux, Windows Server, macOS), server hardware, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 suit and MS Azure
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.), security protocols, and firewall management.
- Solid understanding of IT security principles, including encryption, authentication, and data protection best practices.
- Strong understanding of backup and disaster recovery procedures, including both on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
- Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- IT relevant certifications are a plus.
