Job Summary
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. Candidates with appropriate experience and credentials may be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking applicants with expertise in the field of thermal science and energy. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in heat and mass transfer at various scales, multi-phase transport phenomena and advanced thermal metrology. We are particularly interested in individuals whose research addresses critical challenges in clean and sustainable energy technologies, electrochemical batteries, fuel cells systems, semiconductor thermal management, energy harvesting and innovative approaches to energy conversion and storage. Emerging technologies for building energy and thermal systems are also of interest.
Applicants with experience in conducting multidisciplinary research are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, develop and sustain a thriving research program supported by external funding, as well as engage in professional service.

Required Qualifications
The candidate must have earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Postdoctoral or industry research experience is desirable.

Areas of excellence in the MAE department include Renewable Energy and Thermal Management of Multiscale Engineered Systems; Hybrid and Electric Automotive Engineering; Datacenter Thermal Management; Life Cycle Management of Advanced Material Systems and Multiscale Structures; Efficient, Green Propulsion Systems and Control of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. UT Arlington has excellent laboratory and computational facilities to support research in the areas of interest, with state-of-the-art fabrication facilities at the Shimadzu Institute Nanotechnology Research Center (https://www.uta.edu/academics/schools-colleges/engineering/research/centers-and-labs/sirt-nano), Characterization Center for Materials & Biology (C2MB, https://ccmb.uta.edu/) and the University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (UTARI, http://www.uta.edu/utari/).
