Visting Instructor in Computer Science

Hanover College invites applications for a Visiting Instructor in Computer Science. This position is renewable annually for up to three years with the possibility of additional renewals. We are looking for candidates with a wide range of interests and a passion for teaching at the undergraduate level. The appointment will begin August 2024. Successful candidates will be able to teach a variety of existing courses as well as create new courses in areas of interest. The 3-3-1 annual teaching schedule includes a range of core and elective CS courses with average class size of 15 in upper level courses and a cap of 24 for introductory-level courses.

You will be joining a tight-knit group of dedicated educators who collaborate closely, enjoy experimenting with active-learning techniques, and support innovative approaches to teaching.

Minimum qualifications:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely-related field by time of appointment
• evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness at the undergraduate level
• ability to effectively teach introductory level courses (CS Principles, CS 1, Data Structures)
• demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student and community populations
• ability to embrace the liberal arts mission of the College

Preferred qualifications:

• ability to offer upper-level electives such as (cyber-) security, cloud computing, parallel computing
