Position Summary:

The Sales Manager reports directly to the Director of Sales and Road System General Manager. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating communication, marketing, and sales with potential customers in new service areas throughout the State of Alaska, with primary focus on the road system. The incumbent will participate in frequent travel to include field-based visits and meetings with terminal managers. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting business development meetings and attracting new customers to the organization.

Our company vision for the Sales Manager position is to grow and develop new as well as long-standing customer relationships in Vitus rural markets, especially those related to bulk fuel delivery, home heating, and propane businesses. This position will lead marketing initiatives and implement strategies for bulk as well as retail fuel sales in all terminal markets and fuel stations along the Alaska road system.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential duties of the Sales Manager include drafting local marketing plans for each Vitus Energy, LLC location, initiating contact with prospective customers, establishing buying cycles, and addressing customer needs. The Sales Manager will create as well as maintain healthy, dynamic, and professional customer-supplier relationships as they fulfill the duties of their position.

The Sales Manager will perform various administrative tasks to include accurate recording of daily marketing contracts, maintenance of sales/marketing documentation, facilitation of marketing efforts within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and providing phone support for the field as necessary.

Effective execution of sales and marketing tasks depend on capacity for effective relationship building, professionalism, and persuasive selling. In the Sales Manager position, such tasks will include communication of Vitus Energy LLC’s unique business brand to potential customers, as well as solicitation of customer opinions and suggestions to better our organization’s brand, product, and services. Related assignments will include establishment of buying influences, budgets, and purchasing criteria for assigned accounts, preparation of sales information for customers, and execution of sales strategies. At the core of their professional interactions, the Sales Manager will build rapport and product confidence with customers.


In addition to the sales/marketing and administrative tasks outlined above, the Sales Manager will execute various analytical tasks. Analytical tasks will include analyses of proposed, as well as existing, programs, policies, and services. The Sales Manager is expected to make effective recommendations for ensuring both equitability and responsiveness to customer needs. The Sales Manager will develop and implement programs as well as services designed to target and satisfy customer needs. This position will be granted opportunities to attend industry trade shows, intended to identify potential sales leads and make meaningful connections with existing Vitus customers.

Interpersonal skills and communication abilities are central to the Sales Manager position. Duties will frequently entail resolution of complex and sensitive service-related disputes involving customers. Resolution of such disputes are a critical component of this job. Avoiding them requires smooth, accurate, and efficient handling of sales operations and administrative tasks. The Sales Manager will effectively and professionally handle all service-related investigations. They will ensure customers accurately and consistently complete all required documentation (i.e. sales quotes, sales contracts, credit applications, etc.). The Sales Manager must engage in effective coordination regarding all matters, accurately communicating information to management personnel, including the General Manager, Director of Sales, and terminal managers. Market pricing information collected from customers, prospective customers, and other public resources must be accurately communicated to management at all times. It is critical that the Sales Manager accurately accounts for delivery dates and inventory levels for fulfillment when securing and placing orders.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of two years related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent, but may have a bachelor’s degree.

  • Performance of basic mathematical tasks, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, as well as using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Performance of mathematical and spatial tasks to include computation of rate, ratio, and percent, as well as drawing and interpreting bar graphs.

Education:

The successful candidate must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

Required Training & Certificates:

The successful candidate must attend training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by the Sales Department.

Computer skills of the successful candidate must be commensurate with the program and job applications.
