Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in designing and optimizing battery storage units. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering principles, energy storage systems, and power electronics. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced energy storage solutions that integrate with renewable energy sources. Your work will play a key role in the implementation of energy storage systems that improve energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Lead the design and development of battery storage systems, ensuring technical feasibility, performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
- Battery Management Systems (BMS): Design and integrate battery management systems for optimal performance, health monitoring, and energy efficiency.
- System Modeling & Simulation: Use simulation tools to model battery storage systems and optimize for energy output, charging cycles, and capacity.
- Energy Storage Optimization: Work on improving the efficiency and performance of energy storage units, including charge/discharge cycles, thermal management, and battery life.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project management teams to develop integrated solutions.
- Testing & Validation: Oversee and conduct testing, validation, and performance assessment of battery systems in real-world applications.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all battery storage designs comply with relevant local, national, and international standards, including safety, environmental, and electrical codes (e.g., UL, IEC, IEEE).
- Innovation & Research: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in battery technology, energy storage, and renewable energy systems to drive innovation and product improvement.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and test reports.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and system-level issues that arise during design, testing, or installation phases.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and developing battery storage systems.
- Strong understanding of battery technologies (e.g., lithium-ion, solid-state, lead-acid) and energy storage systems.
- Proficient in electrical circuit design, power electronics, and system integration.
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS), charge controllers, and inverter technologies.
- Familiarity with energy storage standards, regulations, and compliance.
- Strong proficiency in simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PSpice) for modeling and analysis.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems (e.g., solar, wind) and their integration with battery storage.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Professional engineering license (PE) preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with large-scale energy storage systems for grid applications or commercial use.
- Familiarity with emerging battery technologies (e.g., sodium-ion, flow batteries).
- Knowledge of smart grid technology and integration with energy storage systems.
- Experience in designing systems for demand response or grid frequency regulation.
- Experience with IoT and remote monitoring of energy storage systems.
Work Environment:
- This position may require occasional travel for on-site testing, installations, or customer support.
- Flexible work hours and remote work options are available depending on the nature of the project.
