Oakhill Environmental Inc. (Oakhill) is a team of engineers, scientists and field technicians who have been successfully providing environmental consulting services across Ontario since 1994. Our services range from Environmental Site Assessments to identify potential environmental liabilities, to the assessment of emissions from industrial facilities, for the purpose of pursuing an Environmental Compliance Approval or Environmental Activity Sector Registry registration.
We are seeking someone with a positive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn, to join our team as an Environmental Technician / Engineer-in-Training for our environmental team.
Role Overview:
- File and manage project related field notes, data entry, research, and assistance with report preparation including Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) and Environmental Activity and Sector Registrations (EASRs).
- Develop and maintain an accurate understanding of applicable industry standards and legislative requirements related to ECAs and EASRs.
- Utilise MicroSurvey (CAD Software) to draft technical drawings including site overviews, groundwater contour modelling, sampling locations and data tables to support ECA, EASR, and Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) projects.
- Conduct fieldwork to support ECA, EASR, and ESA projects (i.e., noise/air sampling, groundwater monitoring, soil sampling through test pit excavation or borehole drilling) and complete office assignments under the direction of senior staff members.
- Maintain excellent field notes, and adhere to fieldwork procedures for sample collection and handling.
- Collect GNSS data from the field, and extrapolate data from georeferenced MicroSurvey models.
- Travel as needed to project sites within southern Ontario.
Experience/Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences or Engineering related field is required.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and personal vehicle is required.
- Eligibility or designation as an Engineer in Training (EIT) would be considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge and experience using CAD software(s) would be considered an asset.
- Experience in the consulting industry with ECAs, EASRs, and/or ESAs would be considered an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; strong computer software skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with attention to detail of field notes.
- A team player, strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong at multi-tasking, organized and adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Proven three years insured heavy vehicle driving experience an asset.
This is a full-time one-year contract position - hours will vary depending upon project availability.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
