Role Description
You will be an integral part of our Club Administration team liaising with employees, members, auditors, key vendors, and various stakeholders in support of the accounting function of the Club while ensuring the experience at Priddis Greens aligns with our Purpose, Mission, and Values. While this permanent part-time three-day work week is well suited for candidates who are currently striving for more flexibility, there is opportunity for career progression with increased responsibilities.
You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting function of the Club in producing timely & accurate monthly financial statements. You will also work closely with the Finance Manager, Accounting & Payroll Administrator, Club Operations Manager, Membership Administrator, and General Manager on the delivery of the overall Club Administration experience for our members and employees.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the accounting function to produce corporate and departmental level monthly financial statements
· Perform balance sheet reconciliations in working closely with the Accounting & Payroll Administrator
· Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
· Maintaining and reconciling capital asset and other schedules
· Lead the annual external audit process and work closely with the Finance Manager in the audit of the annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (ASNPO)
· Review and approve accounts payable, payroll, and other disbursements of the Club
· File routine GST, source deduction withholding, and other regulatory matters
· Contribute to the timely and accurate monthly member statement delivery and accounts receivable collection
· Lead the member league and member event billing and reconciliation processes
· Review departmental operating statements for accuracy in alignment with the Club’s Budget and Forecasts
· Assist the Finance Manager with financial planning and analysis as requested including budgeting, forecasting, and other reporting requirements
· Actively contribute to Club Administration and Club-wide meetings
Desired Skills & Experience
· Minimum three years of accounting experience, preferably in the golf club or other hospitality industry
· Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks and still produce accurate, efficient results
· Diplomatic, engaging personality with excellent communication skills
· Ability to travel reliably to and from Priddis Greens 12 months of the year
· Knowledge and or a keen interest in the game of golf
· Ability to interact positively and professionally with all stakeholders of the Club
· Ability to seek out new technologies and innovative ways to respond to the continuous need for continuous improvement
· Proficient with hospitality software (preferably Jonas) as well as Microsoft Office applications
· Strong business acumen and financial stewardship skillset
Education and Professional Qualifications
· Business degree and/or related accounting diplomas/certificates
· Pursuit of or interest in CPA designation
