The Manager, Sustainability and Social Impact is a key contributor to the Sustainability and Social Impact team. Providing strategic and tactical support to the Sr. Director, Sustainability and Social Impact on the execution and delivery of strategic programs and initiatives across the business, in alignment with the Company’s purpose and values and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. The Manager works closely with both internal and external stakeholders to bring about positive environmental and social impact in areas that matter most to our customers, colleagues and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement & Communications:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for collaboration and driving positive impact.
  • Develop and execute compelling communication plans that effectively engage stakeholders and build brand ambassadorship for Loblaw's sustainability initiatives.
  • Design, launch, and manage impactful national employee engagement campaigns related to sustainability, leveraging data and analytics to track performance and measure success.
  • Create engaging content for diverse internal audiences, utilizing various communication channels (intranet, email, digital signage, events, etc.).

Program Management & Reporting:

  • Provide strategic planning, execution, and management for a portfolio of sustainability and social impact programs, ensuring alignment with company goals, values, and purpose-led commitments.
  • Effectively manage program budgets, timelines, and resources to deliver impactful results.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Loblaw's annual ESG report and other periodic disclosures, ensuring accuracy and alignment with leading frameworks (SASB, CDP, GRI).
  • Research industry trends, best practices, and emerging sustainability issues to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and enhance Loblaw's performance.

Event Management & Internal Advocacy:

  • Support the development and execution of engaging events (e.g., Earth Week) and initiatives that promote sustainability and social impact across the business.
  • Act as an internal champion and advocate for sustainability, fostering a culture of responsibility and engagement across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in sustainability, social responsibility, or ESG, preferably within a corporate setting.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with a knack for building consensus and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, demonstrating creativity and tact in challenging situations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, and proactive approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
