Heartland Sheets, a subsidiary of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking a Shipping Supervisor to support our Kansas City, MO facility. As a Shipping Supervisor, you will supervise, manage, coordinate and direct two (2) or more forklift operators, schedule truck drivers’ runs, and manage all aspects of shipping, including shipping cost, MSF/trailer and on-time deliveries.Heartland Sheets truly values our employees as our greatest asset and we strive to support both you and your family at work and in life.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Follow all safety and company policies, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately; must complete online safety training each month as assigned; complete monthly behavior and audit cards.
- Schedule customer orders and deliveries in the most cost-efficient and time-saving manner possible.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment. Follow all safety and company policies, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately. Complete required amount of monthly behavior and audits cards.
- Supervise, manage, and direct Forklift Operators and second shift lead personnel in the daily routine of loading trucks neatly and to customers’ complete satisfaction. Recommend and review disciplinary actions with Logistics Manager.
- Ensure that all orders, export containers and bale containers are properly produced, loaded, billed, shipped and delivered on time and in accordance with all customer requirements, customs requirements, and any other legal requirements.
- Prepare work orders for and coordinate and direct repairs of trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doors.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Scheduler, Account Executive, and other colleagues to provide outstanding customer service. Contact customers regarding issues and load delivery changes.
- Routinely walk the shipping floor to inspect products being loaded to ensure product standards are being met; Safeguard the quality of the product that is shipped by being critical and rejecting non-conforming product, before being shipped.
- Demonstrate outstanding supervisory and human relations skills by creating a positive work environment, respecting confidentiality, conducting effective counseling and discipline, engaging in fair and consistent treatment of employees, and properly documenting all personnel related actions.

- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Improve career skills by enrolling in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses, with approval of manager.
- Develop strong rapport with various freight line representatives.
- Receive customer returns.
- Communicate with upper management regarding problems or situations that may affect the performance of the Shipping Department and identify and carry out strategies to solve those problems and situations.
- Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
- Ensure product samples are being sent as requested by customers
- Additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Forklift Operator and/or Truck Driver.
- College and/or related technical experience.
- One (1) year supervisory experience as a proven manager.
- Ability to understand, design and operate equipment in a way that can be translated into efficient operation and that supports the Supervisor’s role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
- Ability to understand economic factors and cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the Supervisor find areas that require improvement.
- Ability to understand and implement quality standards.
- Ability to understand and implement regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ, and EEO.
