SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Analytics Manager is managing a team of analysts and data science professionals to enable enterprise-wide access to business knowledge. Additionally, they will be responsible for ensuring resources follow proper governance and standards across the various analytics teams and ecosystem. Employing Design Thinking, the Analytics Manager will anticipate the analytics needs of senior leaders and steer the development efforts accordingly. The key measure of success for the Analytics Manager is providing accurate, timely & relevant insights and critical information to support the strategic initiatives and daily operations of the business lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.
  • Management
    • Lead and develop a team of analysts and data science professionals.
    • Work within the analytics department to ensure all resources and insights are uniformly delivered and consistently upkept.
    • Organize and drive data insight initiatives through effective management and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Design Thinking
    • Empathize with business partners to better understand their complex analytics needs.
    • Assist the analytics departments to define and ideate solutions with a uniform insight delivery in mind.
    • Oversee the analytics development life cycle and communicate final solutions to our business partners.
    • Consult with decision makers to identify analytics and reporting needs and provide strategic support.
  • Problem Analysis and Project Management
    • Interface with business partners to intake new analytics requests through the ACoE intake process.
    • Coach the organization in the use of available analytics resources.
    • Collaborate across the business to understand IT and business constraints.
  • Operationalization
    • Help disseminate information about the organization’s analytics resources.
    • Oversee the design and testing of reports and dashboards and ensure a proper hand off for deployment to the production environment.
    • Ensure analytics resources adhere to predefined standards and have been routed through the proper governance channels.
  • Other
    • Network with internal and external partners.
    • Upskill themself (through conferences, publications, courses, local academia, and meetups).
    • Promote collaboration with other teams within the organization.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Math, Information Systems, Economics or similar; and at least two years leading cross functional teams in the analytics/development space. Project management or business analyst certification preferred.
OTHER SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • IT Knowledge/Skills
    • Extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) such as Python, C# or Java/Java Script
    • Extensive knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
    • Data Visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI
    • Knowledge of version control systems such as GIT
  • Interpersonal Skills
    • All candidates must be self-driven, curios and creative.
    • Demonstrated track record of working with diverse, cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.
    • Candidates should be confident, energetic self-starters, with strong moderation and communication skills.
    • Candidates should exhibit superior presentation skills, including storytelling and other techniques to guide and inspire.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents and to read and interpret data schemas, with emphasis on Business Intelligence. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to prepare presentations using original or innovative styles, techniques and make persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts to tasks such as frequency distributions, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles, logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
