Job Description
HireArt is helping Toyota Research Institute (TRI) hire an experienced Entrepreneur-in-Residence to co-found a new business through a newly formed corporate incubator at TRI.As an EIR, you will explore new business opportunities, partner with TRI employees, and execute on an idea with initial backing by TRI. You will bring business acumen and startup experience to complement your TRI co-founder(s) and work to grow the team, launch, and get venture funding alongside TRI’s investment.
In this role, you'll architect systems for building prototypes while collecting and analyzing experimental data from human subjects. You'll also work with software infrastructure engineers and perform tasks related to mobile app development, front/back end web development, and data pipelines.
As an Entrepreneur-in-Residence , you'll:
- Ideation and Innovation: Identify new market opportunities, and develop ideas to be incubated into a viable business model which may comprise both products and services. Understand emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in relevant industries, and bring them into the discussion as tools for refinement.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify gaps, trends, and potential areas for disruption. Assess the viability and feasibility of new concepts and initiatives.
- Business Model Development: Develop and refine business models for new initiatives, including revenue generation strategies, cost structures, and scalability plans. Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making.
- Execution and Management: Once an idea is selected for incubation, join a founding team to design and oversee the implementation of proof of concept projects and pilot programs. Coordinate cross-functional teams for successful execution.
- Entrepreneurial Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members. Share insights and best practices to foster an entrepreneurial culture and mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Proven track record as an entrepreneur or intrapreneur in the technology industry, with experience in driving innovation and successfully launching new ventures (10+ years of experience with at least 1 successful exit is ideal)
- Proven ability to generate, research, and lead ventures, with domain knowledge in mobility, robotics, manufacturing, AI/ML, B2B, SaaS, or related industries
- Creative idea-generation skills with excellent critical thinking, analytical, execution, and communication abilities
- Strong team-building and teamwork capabilities
- Demonstrated leadership with the ability to inspire and influence others
- Self-motivated and results-driven, comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Track record of being able to raise capital from the VC ecosystem
- Deep knowledge of relevant industries, including key trends, challenges, and regulatory landscape
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop actionable plans
- Strong business acumen, including product management, marketing, sales, operations, or finance experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
