SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Production Manager performs duties to ensure a safe work environment and to lead and give direction to production workers while performing work of the type supervised. The Production Manager oversees, assigns work and participates in production or other production support segment operations. The objectives of the Production Manager are to act as a coach and facilitator to the group and is responsible for continuous and efficient production in desired quantity and quality according to customer requirements.

  • Assigns and directs workers in the group with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production and meeting production goals and delivery dates
  • Responsible for providing a safe environment for workers and for proactively facilitating and inspiring an active culture of safety among their team.
  • Maintains compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping
  • Actively engages in regular communication with reports on subjects including, but not limited to, coaching, career progress, company and department news and objectives, corrective discussions and actions.
  • Ensures quality and timely execution of duties performed by Operations departments and functional areas applicable to the CS Site
  • Ensure delivery of KPIs including day to day service levels, customer experience, quality measures and monitoring of throughput.
  • Responsible for training of work group and assists in identifying training needs
  • Regularly performs work of the type supervised
  • Encourages efficient utilization of equipment and facilities. Ensures that work group has necessary resources to complete requirements. Works with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot machines and resolve production and/or quality issues.
  • Maintains basic production or output records and conformance to budgetary limitations
  • Reviews and comments on performance evaluations of all subordinates. Assists in recruitment and staff development.
  • Coordinates flow of work within or between departments to expedite production. Reviews master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities for specific customer orders, and revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and materials in order to meet customer demands.
  • Partners with supply chain to ensure appropriate flow of materials.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
  • Assists in the recruiting and hiring process, including orientation, onboarding, and training of new employees
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required and performs all other duties assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION*: (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Production Management or similar. .
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience including 1-3 in a supervisory role or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Coaching and leadership skills, employee training and development
  • Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review and discipline
  • Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing. Understanding of six sigma principles and applications is a plus.
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results
  • Measurement of performance to goals and standards including utilization of reporting and dashboards
  • An ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations
  • Systems and continuous improvement orientation
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail
  • Problem analysis and resolution

  • Strong computer skills are a plus.
