The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for the selling of freight procured by the sales team to our current and future carrier base. By outbound calls, utilization of technology and leveraging of relationships you will focus on the coverage side of the business. The Carrier Sales Representative will have ownership over the freight they are assigned to work to ensure their volume, revenue, and margin goals are achieved. The Carrier Sales Representative will ensure the carrier's experience with AFC exceeds the carriers’ expectations and acts as a representative of the organization. This individual is key to our relationships with our carrier partners and fostering those relationships will create a long-term successful relationship. The Carrier Sales Representative will be the liaison between the carrier partner and our internal team and will act as the carrier’s voice inside our organization.

Daily Duties:

  • Outreach (Calls, emails, etc.) to motor carriers to book freight that AFC has procured from customers to maximize profitability
  • Provide and negotiate freight rates to motor carriers and AFC’s internal team
  • Coordinate available customer freight with available carrier equipment
  • Collaborate internally with the sales and pricing teams to streamline processes
  • Manage performance expectations through carrier metrics
  • Communicate with motor carriers to provide tracking updates and problem resolution
  • Verify all freight charges are accurate prior to invoicing and payment to carrier
  • Identify lanes and carriers to source capacity and add to our network on an ongoing basis
  • Meet or exceed company created KPI’s and ramp up schedule
  • Monitor and promptly respond to all customer and carrier communications, ensuring timely support, including weekends, holidays, before and after regular business hours, maintaining a high level of responsiveness and customer service.
  • Be both strategic and tactical when working internally and externally to facilitate growth

Requirements:

  • Clear and confident communicator
  • Minimum of 3 years carrier sales experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Market knowledge
  • Logistics: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Transportation management (Preferred)
  • Carrier Sales: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Detail oriented, things move quickly
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Results driven
  • Passion and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced energetic environment
