Position Overview
Not only do you have years of utility experience under your belt, but your knowledge of natural gas infrastructure is second to none. Safety is always your top priority, and all of your operations decisions are focused on safeguarding the well-being of everyone around you. If this sounds like you, you’ll be a great fit as our Operations Supervisor.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, Support, this position is responsible to supervise and provide leadership to a team of skilled field resources to meet daily operational demands and support the generation, distribution, transmission and delivery of energy, safely and reliably, to FortisBC customers within a designated geographical area and/or facility.

In this role, you will:
- Develop your relationships with reports and team members to gain a better understanding of what success looks like for you and your team.
- Familiarize yourself with the role specific challenges by gaining an in depth understanding of what, why and how your team achieves success.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Champion our safety culture to safeguard against accidents and injuries.
- Participate in training.
- Expand your knowledge of resource and administrative budgets.
- Expand your knowledge of role specific challenges and look for opportunities to improve processes.
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with peers and internal stakeholders in developing strategic initiatives to drive operational excellence.
What it takes:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or Diploma of Technology in a related discipline from a recognized program is considered an asset.
- Five years of related field experience in a leadership capacity.
- Certified Member in the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC or a Professional equivalent is an asset.
- Previous experience managing in a Unionized workforce.
- Previous experience in construction, underground utilities, and emergency response is an asset.
- A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset.
- A collaborative and inclusive approach to strengthening connections in the workplace.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite such as Word, Excel, etc.
