The University of Manitoba includes its community of health educators, experts, and researchers in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences includes all academic and support staff members of the Colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Rehabilitation Sciences, as well as the School of Dental Hygiene. It has positioned the University of Manitoba as a leader in health education, training, research, and practice.

The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences reflects the health sector's evolving focus on inter-professional models of care and forthcoming expanded roles for health professionals under the Province's Regulated Health Professions Act. As a faculty, we recognize the importance of collaboration in inter-disciplinary research, inter-professional education and training and service delivery to students in the health professions.

The integrated Rady Faculty of Health Sciences will facilitate the following:

  • Enhanced research competitiveness.
  • Exemplary community outreach and service, particularly to underserved populations.
  • Train future generations of health professionals in IPE and practice models.
  • Better prepare graduate students to practice in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Expand rural distributed education models to recruit and retain more health professionals in Manitoba.
  • Collaborative research opportunities/more flexible programs of study for students; and
  • Singular, more effective liaison with government resulting in greater opportunities for partnerships and external support.

The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:

  • Provides technical leadership to the Rady IT Deskside and Systems Administrator roles.
  • Represents Rady IT as a liaison with other Technology teams within the University and Health care partners for all matters involving infrastructure system design, analysis and operations.
  • Participates in resource planning to meet staffing, space and equipment requirements.
  • Participates in the recruitment of new staff within respective teams.
  • Provides input for staff performance assessments, learning and development requirements.
  • Provides training and mentorship to team members.
  • Manages projects involving core Information Technology services, software, and hardware provided to the Rady Faculty of Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Directs design, planning, and installation of technical solutions and enhancements to the Rady IT infrastructure.
  • Researches technical solutions and make recommendations on products, services, and standards in support of infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
  • Participates in the selection and negotiation of vendor contracts.
  • Evaluates server hardware, Server Operating Systems and System utilities.
  • Provides timely information to teams, project managers and IT and customer leadership on project status.
  • Directs activities for critical system incidents and major changes for Rady IT infrastructure; for all systems hosted locally or remotely.
  • Reviews and delegates documentation creation for the Rady IT infrastructure for accuracy and completeness.
  • Directs the design and implementation of short- and long-term strategic plans to make certain infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Practices infrastructure asset management, life cycle management and related documentation.
  • Directs development of policies and procedures for system use and maintenance.
  • Directs, develops and implements technical procedures, methods, standards and controls to foster operational efficiency
  • Minimum 5 -7 years recent, directly related experience setting up, configuring, maintaining and supporting IT on-premises infrastructure with settings in virtual servers, preferably in an academic or business environment.
  • Previous experience in supporting simulation applications and hardware is in simulation facilities (like EMS Works' Arcadia is required.
  • Previous experience in computerized research and statistical analysis, required.
  • Previous experience in the research, acquisition and installation of new computer systems is preferred.
  • Experience with server administration required (Microsoft SOL server, Active Directory, 11S, DNS and SharePoint etc.).
  • Experience with storage area networking and large-scale storage management
  • Previous experience with University of Manitoba central computing and network services preferred.

Pay: $64,731.76-$97,097.64 per year
