JOB SUMMARY

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial instruments and control systems.

OBJECTIVES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, test, maintain, and repair a wide variety of industrial instrumentation and control systems including flow, level, pressure, and temperature measurement devices.
  • Perform troubleshooting and calibration of instruments to ensure accurate readings and process control, adjusting equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain and update calibration records, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and manuals to diagnose and correct issues.
  • Ensure all instrumentation and control equipment adheres to safety standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams to optimize process control and ensure system functionality.
  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of instruments and document any changes or repairs.
  • Diagnose faults or failures by using specialized equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, or signal generators.
  • Support plant operations by responding quickly to maintenance requests and minimizing downtime.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and reliability of instrumentation systems.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements and assist with instrumentation upgrades and modifications.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety policies and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS and PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess construction and industrial experience.
  • Must be a Certified Journeyperson in Instrumentation and Control
  • Solid knowledge of various industrial instruments and control systems, including pneumatic, electronic, and digital systems.
  • Proficiency in using calibration tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized software.
  • Strong understanding of industry safety standards and regulations (e.g., CSA, ANSI, and company policies).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment with possible exposure to hazardous materials, high temperatures, and noisy machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be fit-for-duty.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Must be immediately eligible/able to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to provide clean Canadian criminal record check (within 30 days of hire)
