Position Overview
The person in this role is responsible for managing all sales activities within their defined territory. In this role decision making, accountability, strong analytical thinking, and follow through are critical. This individual must be a trustworthy, driven self-starter who requires little supervision.
Experience with hardwood lumber, building materials, plywood industry sales preferred
Responsibilities
Sales
a. Sells established accounts and identifies/opens/sells new customers
b. Attends regular sales meetings
c. Provides detailed monthly, quarterly, and yearly territory sales budgets
d. Responsible for sales, margin, and accounts receivable within territory
e. Identifies target accounts and programs and develops strategy to achieve growth
f. Constantly seeks to learn new skills and deepen product knowledge and expertise
Operations and Organizational
a. Develops strong relationships with management, co-workers, and key suppliers
b. Provides leadership, direction and guidance to inside support staff
c. Functions as a team player and strives to improve operational efficiency
d. Responsible for managing program specific inventory within customer base
e. Supports new company initiatives, operational and sales
Customers
a. Nurtures new customers, maintains/grows sales with existing customers
b. Builds rapport and credibility
c. Develops collaborative and consultative relationships
d. Establishes and maintains programs
e. Responsible for regular visits to entire customer base
Reporting Relationships
This role reports directly to the Sales Manager.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education from a recognized post secondary institution
- 2+ years experience in inside sales and operations
- Outside sales experience is an asset
- Knowledge of lumber and plywood and experience within the building products industry is also an asset
- Experience in a larger company with multiple locations is an asset from an internal communications and operational understanding perspective
- Energetic with excellent work ethic
- Goal and action oriented
- Self-starter, forward thinking and strong at planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide direction to inside support staff
- Must be computer savvy (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
