Job Description
The GEON Solutions Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for generating and leading new sales of existing services or new services into new customers or new segments within existing target customers - as dictated by the business strategy. The opportunities created by the Senior Business Development Manager are developed as part of the sales process, the annual AOP process, and as assigned by the Regional Sales Manager. The Senior Business Development Manager will work closely with the Account Managers to hand-off new sales, with Marketing to understand market trends and customer needs, new emerging solution development, and with technical and operations team to develop and deliver the new solutions to the market to drive the business growth.
The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for managing the portfolio of solution development projects for the growth of the market and segments. This position leads, establishes, and delegates a project team for each project that is identified and prioritized by business to support growth. The Senior Business Development manager owns the progress and success of these projects and ensures they continue to move through the sales process in a timely manner. This position works closely with sales leadership to initiate ideas for addition projects for their market and are responsible for the health of their sales funnel. This role will focus on the contact services/toll manufacturing market for large petrochemical suppliers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of new market and service opportunities.
- Establish contacts and networks within key customers and industries as well as academic institutions to define market needs and facilitate discussion on technologies available to meet these needs. Feed new ideas to the sales process.
- Validate the efficacy and value proposition of new offerings, as a Liaison between all functions, to solidify product scope, specifications / timing, regulatory, and costs of any new service development.
- Provide front line feedback where retooling or improving the offering is required or warranted.
- Lead cross functional team to develop the new solutions and scale up new opportunities for growth and development, using the defined sales process.
- Serve as the GEON point person and champion at the customer during incubation/scale up.
- Collect and translate the voice of the customer to lead development of new product/market and service offerings that meet customer’s needs and wants.
- Lead training efforts for distribution channels involving new offerings.
- Report on account activity highlights, market intel, customer VOC and account plans for subsequent weeks.
- In partnership with the [project management/pricing} key stakeholders (marketing, product management, finance etc.) -recommend, negotiate, and implement pricing strategy - as agreed with the Sales Managers
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience successfully leading new sales in the petrochemical supplier industry.
- Successful completion of a bachelor's degree program with a focus on Marketing, Sales, or Business Administration is preferred.
- Experience using innovative approaches to creating new service concepts is required.
- Experience with planning and delivering effective technical presentations to groups is required.
- In-depth technical understanding of polymer technology and its end use applications is preferred.
