Our Client is a global supplier and contract manufacturer of innovative, high-performance plastic components and rigid packaging solutions that shape the future of the automotive, industrial, and healthcare industries. As a result of continued growth and expansion they are looking to hire a New Business Development Manager to be tasked with growing their customer base in industrial, outdoor and recreation sectors across North America. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing new customer prospects with a requirement for contract manufacturing services for plastic injection or blow molded components and parts, in sectors such as lawn & garden, pool & spa, appliances (white goods), powersports, power tools, marine, sporting goods, traffic management and other industrial and recreation applications.
Working with our client’s wider product development and manufacturing team you will gather customer requirements translating them into functional prototypes for customer review moving them through the part approval process into an ongoing contract manufacturing partner. This position is a fully remote position with occasional travel to our client’s head office in Anderson, South Carolina with a preference on candidates located in the Southeastern or Mid States such as South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan or Tennessee preferably.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the North American market for plastic components in the industrial, outdoor or recreation sector.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve growth and market penetration targets.
- Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers to understand customer needs and offer tailored solutions.
- Lead contract negotiations and close deals with new clients, ensuring mutual satisfaction and alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, production, quality) to deliver customized solutions.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust sales strategies and identify new opportunities.
- Manage sales pipeline and forecast accurately using CRM tools.
- Prepare and present compelling proposals that showcase our client's capabilities and value proposition.
- Represent the company at industry events to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
- Achieve sales targets through proactive business development and strategic account management.
- Provide market insights to internal teams to drive product development and innovation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all sales activities.
Key Requirements
- Ideally hold bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering or a related field.
- 3-5+ years proven experience in sales or business development in either plastics, packaging, injection molding, blow molding, contract manufacturing or B2B industrial component/parts sales.
- Strong understanding of plastics, molding, materials science, and manufacturing processes including tooling, plastic processing & assembly processes
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of Quality systems including ISO 90001
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Results-oriented with a track record of achieving sales targets.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build relationships based on trust
Term: Full-Time, Direct-Hire
Location: Remote with occasional travel to clients HQ in Anderson, South Carolina
Salary: $100k - $120k Base Salary - Negotiable on Experience
