Job Description

Swedish Match North America LLC, a rapidly growing manufacturer and market leader of well-known smokeless tobacco products, nicotine ZYN pouch products, as well as complementary products, is currently seeking a Business Development Manager for the central sales region located in KY/ TN.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership/People Development
  • Reinforce the performance appraisal process through coaching, to increase growth and development of the sales organization.
  • Provide a development plan for each Key Account Manager to ensure they have the necessary knowledge, skills and characteristics that will enable them to be considered for further advancement. Encourage through coaching.
  • Evaluate Account Managers and recommend Key Account Managers for reward and recognition. This requires the ongoing monitoring and upgrading of performance objectives and role standards.
  • Participate in the process of evaluating and hiring all Account Managers for the organization when the need arises. Corporate Human Resources, Account Managers, and the Region Director of Sales will support and facilitate the process.
  • Create an environment with clearly defined and attainable goals.

Space and Business Vitals

  • Design and implement a strategic business plan to increase operating profits and revenue year to year with his/her assigned customer group. Focus on distribution, merchandising execution, identifying growth opportunities, brand displacement, and category management.
  • Understand and utilize syndicated data (CRM and Category Management) to identify space dimension opportunities. Assist in setting region goals and objectives, develop the sales presentation, and support and assist in the region planning process.
  • Identify internal (customer service, marketing, sales leadership, sales operations, financial, production) and external resources that accomplish specific space dimension improvement goals for leading strategic customers. (Space dimensions: pricing, distribution, display, displacement, mental).
  • Encourage brand/services innovation at every level; seek "big picture" innovation at every level.
  • Assess and evaluate the business results of all strategic customers and recommend change strategies if necessary.
  • Encourage operational excellence; focus on cost reduction, improved selling performance and improve coverage and administrative effectiveness.
  • Develop business opportunities at all levels and provides direction to all assigned district personnel in support of company, region and district distribution and merchandising goals and objectives.
Operational/Structural/Conceptual
  • Understands and translates national and regional policies, procedures, operating strategies, and plans to his/her account associates. This includes transferring knowledge and understanding of all personnel and vital business information.
  • Create an environment where cooperation, credibility, candor, consistency and a commitment to exceptional performance exists.
  • Focus on building growth opportunities and encourage individual thinking.
  • Develop value-added customer and consumer strategy to maximize the sales mission of increasing operating earnings and revenue.
With Customers
  • Develop and recommend strategies for internal and external customers business and review their coverage.
  • Develop preferred relationships with customer's key decision-makers at all levels within the customer organization. Focus on being the customer's Category Manager to gain their respect and "top of mind" position.
  • Review customer account to include assessment process; recommend improved strategies where needed.
  • Understand customer and consumer needs and provide value-added products. Create leadership within the OTP category.

Education
  • College Degree or equivalent background in key account responsibility.
Experience
  • Minimum five years or more experience in consumer goods area.
Skills
  • Proven ability to communicate both verbal and written.
  • Good presentation development and delivery skills are mandatory.
  • Good analytical skills. Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Category Management System, and Industry data systems.

Additional:

  • The candidate must live within the geographical assignment.
  • Upon hire, if it is deemed that you are ineligible for a corporate credit card you will be responsible to pay for travel costs incurred to meet the job obligations. However, you will have the ability to submit weekly expense reports to ensure timely reimbursements

The starting salary range for this position is between $139,100 - $185,400 . This position is eligible to receive an annual incentive based on regional performance.


This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Starting pay will be determined based on an individual’s skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. These factors could result in a starting pay that is higher than the salary range listed.
