Position Summary:
Cambridge Companies is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to lead and expand our business development and marketing efforts within the waste management sector. This role will focus on driving profitable growth by managing relationships with existing clients and developing new business opportunities through strategic prospecting, market analysis, and client engagement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the A/E/C (architecture, engineering, construction) industry and bring established relationships within the waste management and recycling market.
Position Responsibilities:
- Drive Growth: Develop and implement business development and marketing strategies to foster profitable growth, expand the client base, and strengthen relationships with existing clients.
- Market Analysis: Assess target markets to align with sales and marketing strategies, identifying new opportunities for business expansion.
- Client Engagement: Build and nurture strong client relationships, positioning Cambridge as a trusted partner in the waste management and A/E/C industries.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with leadership on the development of strategic sales and marketing plans, including participation in trade shows, advertising campaigns, and customer relationship events.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Pre-Construction, Design, and Construction teams to ensure alignment and effective communication across departments, supporting successful project outcomes.
- Sales Cycle Leadership: Manage cross department teams in key opening and middle game activities, including conducting market research, analyzing clients and competitors, and collaborating to develop value propositions and pre-Request for Proposal (RFP) collateral.
- Thought Leadership: Identify emerging ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; track individual contributors and their accomplishments.

Ideal Candidate:
- Industry Expertise: Prior experience and strong relationships selling within the waste management and recycling industries. Experience within the A/E/C sectors preferred, but not required.
- Self-Motivated: Thrives in a fast-paced, self-directed environment with a proactive approach to driving business growth.
- Relationship Builder: Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams, deal with and help solve problems on projects.
- Strategic Mindset: Capable of assessing market trends, identifying new business opportunities, and executing effective growth strategies.
- Has experience working in an environment where sales growth is a must and expected year over year.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Advertising, Construction Management, or the equivalent
- Minimum 5 years related professional experience in marketing, business development or sales promotion environment; experience in the A/E/C industry preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- 50% out of state travel required
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
