Job Description
Successful candidate will teach:

EAR 205 — Water and Our Environment in the College of Arts and Sciences.

This is a 3-credit course taught in spring semester 2025.

Course description:
Investigates origin, occurrence, chemistry and hydrology of water on earth. Includes climate change, contamination and water supply issues within context of water sustainability.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department.

Qualifications
Candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences or a related field.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Preparing lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
  • Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of the designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
  • Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
  • Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department’s policies for part-time instructors.
