About You / What We Are Looking For

This is a technical, inspectional and administrative role involved in coordinating asset planning for building and plant equipment to align with the City’s energy reduction mandate. Our next Building Automation and Energy Technician will develop and update energy asset inventory models to ensure best practices; assist with the implementation of energy related projects for various City facilities; and provide specifications, quotes and cost estimates. The work involves analyzing data from Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, and planning DDC system programing and scheduling for energy efficiency and conservation. The successful candidate will monitor and evaluate energy management program effectiveness and document performance trends over time. They will also research new technology and products related to the HVAC and energy markets for efficiency and cost effectiveness. The successful candidate will identify issues, gaps, and opportunities through technical analysis, and provide advice and recommendations in order to improve programs and initiatives. The next Building Automation and Energy Technician will direct, coordinate and supervise the daily work of contractors and consultants, and assist in scheduling technical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma in building technology, a related discipline, or a technical certificate in DCC or HVAC systems, plus considerable related experience in asset management and renewal projects. A candidate with equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Drivers Licence for the Province of British Columbia.

What We Offer:

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $42.44 - $50.12. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
