Job Description
Position Overview: Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Technical Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales of civil commodity and engineered products, used in road construction, forestry, mining and other industries. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, sales expertise, project management and excellent communication skills to effectively promote and sell these materials to contractors, engineers, municipalities, dealers, and owners.
Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Business Development:
- Identify and target potential opportunities within the civil construction industry.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
- Generate leads through networking, referrals, and cold calling.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations to prospective clients.

Technical Expertise:
- Understand and articulate the technical specifications and benefits of AIL’s products (engineered products, and commodities) used in construction projects.
- Provide technical support and advice to clients regarding the selection and application of these materials.
- Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and innovations in road construction and engineering products.
- Provide site assistance during construction/installation, when required.

Customer Relationship Management:
- Maintain regular contact with clients to understand their needs and project requirements.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing high-quality service and support.
- Regular travel throughout territory to build and maintain customer relationships.

Sales Planning and Reporting:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and expand the customer base.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and product innovations.
- Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for management review.

Manage Engineered Projects and Coordinate Commodity Orders:
- Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and logistics, to ensure seamless order fulfillment and customer service.
- Lead projects by managing project coordinators and site engineers to ensure timely delivery and application of products.
- Collaborate with product development teams to provide feedback on customer needs and product performance.

Training and Development:
- Conduct product training sessions for clients and internal sales teams.
- Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and network with industry professionals.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering/Technician, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in the construction, engineering, or steel industries.

Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of steel products, engineering products, and commodities, and their applications in construction and engineering projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite.
