GEI is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join a talented, highly motivated geotechnical team supporting our Knoxville, TN office, and growing regional practice. The successful candidate will oversee geotechnical and construction oversight projects local to Knoxville, the South Region, and/or nationwide. The candidate will also provide technical guidance, client relations, subject matter expertise, and multidisciplinary oversight to proposal and project teams, train/mentor junior staff, and provide innovative problem-solving leadership. Our Knoxville and other South Region locations currently offer a variety of geotechnical and construction services projects which include geotechnical exploration, landslide assessment, slope stability analysis, geo-hazards assessments, building foundation design, retaining wall design, MSE wall design, ground improvement design, deep foundation design, support of excavation design, and construction quality assurance oversight/testing.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Exemplify commitment to technical excellence to meet client expectations and achieve client satisfaction, and profitable project execution. Serve as a technical leader, project manager, and mentor.
- Manages project’s performance in the areas of growth, operations, and administration to ensure project achieves company goals.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities that instill confidence from clients, subconsultants/vendors, and employees.
- Plans, organizes, and manages the work at the jobsite location to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational expectations and requirements.
- Lead proposal efforts, presentations, maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate and encourage active participation in client-based professional organizations, and make presentations at industry events.
- Provide guidance to team members and monitors their performance, discipline, and attendance as defined by GEI policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams and nationwide company offices at client/project locations.
- Grow GEI’s geotechnical practice (www.geiconsultants.com) by developing existing and new clients and markets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related fields required; Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
- Professionally Licensed in Tennessee, surrounding states preferred (AL, KY, MS, GA, NC, VA).
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years in a project management role and client relationship management role.
- Experience working with State and Federal clients.
- Experience working within the utility industry.
- Willingness and ability to travel to GEI branch offices and client sites as required.
- Ability to build client relationships and cross-sell services to existing clients.
