Retirement & Tax Consultant

Our Retirement & Tax department is looking for Retirement & Tax Consultant who will verify the accuracy of tax calculations, examines tax problems, and performs in a business analyst role for Policy Service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree and two years’ Customer Service related experience or five years’ customer experience (i.e. call center, banking, insurance, etc.)
• Attainment of two associate level designations
• Successful completion of the Wonderlic Test
• Two years’ experience as a Retirement Analyst or comparable experience
• Proficiency in using policy administration systems and subsystems
• Proficiency with tax laws and reporting requirements as they affect SFB products
• Working knowledge of all SFB products, service procedures, and company policies
• Excellent interpersonal skills (will act as a mentor to co-workers)
• Good speaking and presentation skills
• Strong organization skills
• Excellent analytical and judgement skills
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

• Monitor processing of all non-variable life, annuity, UL, APL, and supplementary contracts on all SFB policy administration systems for accuracy and compliance with tax regulations.
• Verify accuracy of year-end tax reporting forms (1099-R, 1099-INT, 5498, and annuity letters).
• Examine problem cases involving tax reporting and RPS processing. Recommend solutions to policy holders, agents, and home office employees.
• Review and examine Internal Revenue Code, state tax laws, and tax information commentaries to determine policy taxation reporting requirements.
• Recommend procedural changes to Policy Service management to accommodate tax laws, annuity letter changes, and RPS changes.
• Serve as a business analyst by testing and documenting system corrections, enhancements, and procedure changes relating to service processing.
