Overview:
Responsible for the administrative, curricular, and technical duties associated with the Clinical System course in the Department of Primary Care. Focus will be placed in this course along with support, when needed, in other department courses.
Responsibilities:
To include, but not limited to the following:
  • Work closely with the CS Course Director and Faculty at the Middletown and Montana campus.
  • Interviewing, training, educating and coordinating adjunct faculty to teach all subject matter in the CS course that includes Pediatrics, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Endocrine, Renal, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Rheumatology & Immunology, Neuromuscular Medicine, HEENT, Heme-Onc and Ob-Gyn.
  • Assist in the development and present to Chair
    • Syllabus
      • Assessments (written examinations, adjunct Faculty, SPs (if necessary), exam analysis, course analysis, self-evaluations etc.)
    • Curriculum
  • Determine and report to Chair.
    • Budget requirements.
    • Faculty, Adjunct & Standardized Patient (SP) requirements.
    • All needs of CS course to deliver curriculum.
  • Curriculum/course planning and execute
    • Educational videos (green screen & OMM lab), I-clicker sessions, live lectures and learning sessions and establishing objectives for instructional (lecture and lab) activities. Lectures to conform to TouroCOM standards which currently:
    • Collaborate with course directors on all campuses on course management, including course updates, lecture development, exam preparation and review. Making provisions for learning styles (concrete, abstract, auditory, experiential, kinesthetic, tactile, verbal and visual).
    • Preview and edit all power point lectures – keeping material current.
    • Establishing learning objectives appropriate for pre-medical curriculum, and appropriate text, shelf and professional exams (COMLEX).
    • Establishing a routine for daily planning and evaluation of students.
    • Create and post supplemental material that aligns on all campuses.
  • Execute student Assessments (multiple choice exams and OSCEs)
    • Ensuring that exams are prepared seven days prior to the delivery of the scheduled exam.
  • Manage, compile and analyze all student grades.
  • Work with course Chair to delegate, train and oversee responsibilities of Department.
  • Evaluate Course Faculty, Standardized Patients (if need be) and Administrative Staff.
  • Recruit, hire and train adjunct faculty – provide job description, present for credentialling.
  • Conduct and review adjunct Faculty course analysis.
  • Review and analyze student evaluations of course and Faculty.
  • Establish and maintain Adjunct Faculty schedules.
  • Determine requirements and maintenance for simulators and supplies for CS if necessary.
  • Continual communication with Administrative Assistant and Department staff on their responsibilities.
  • Work with other course divisions to integrate departments.
  • Work with Director of Clinical systems from Montana and Middletown in developing new material.
  • Scholarly activity (grants, research, publishing).
  • Meet with and provide support for at risk students.
  • Develop and execute CS Remediation.
  • Payroll – accuracy of adjunct submissions.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance knowledge on curriculum design and implementation.
  • Participate in all courses run by the Department of Primary Care when called upon.
  • Working relationship with simulation specialist if need be.
  • Participate in faculty development for yourself and CS adjunct faculty as measured by the Dean of Preclinical Sciences to include:
    • Academics (as measured by peer review, student evaluation, student outcomes).
    • Instruction (as measured by student evaluations, student outcomes).
  • Research activities (as measured by the Dean of Research).
  • Special projects as directed by the Chair.
  • Assigned committees from Dean and Preclinical Dean.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Medical Degree required (Doctor of Medicine/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine).
  • Medical License required
  • Experience with teaching and administration preferred.

Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform and learn simulator programming and execution.
Travel
  • Work primarily takes place in TouroCOM Harlem
  • Occasional travel to TouroCOM Middletown may be required
Physical Demands
  • Extensive use of computers, medical supplies and simulators
  • Extensive time sitting and standing
Maximum Salary: USD $126,921.00/Yr. Minimum Salary: USD $101,536.00/Yr.
