Position Purpose:
The Retail Workforce Data Analyst, Sales Operations is responsible for analyzing workforce data, developing insights used to make business decisions and supporting the workforce management strategy of Sleep Number retail stores. In this position, the Data Analyst draws data-driven insights to tell a story and makes recommendation on how to best optimize the dynamic staffing needs of Sleep Number stores with a focus on enhancing employee engagement and productivity. The Data Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sleep Number Enterprise Analytics, the broader Sleep Number analytics community, HR Operations, and Retail Leaders to ensure that business intelligence and workforce initiatives are effectively planned, executed, and monitored.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage workforce data and build data queries to help better understand day-to-day operations identifying efficiencies and selling opportunities that impact topline sales performance.
- Interpret data to identify solutions, bring forward data supported proposals and tell data driven stories that inform business justifications and leadership decision making.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of the impact the workforce management strategy has on performance and other key company priorities (e.g., sales, expenses, key selling events); identifying areas of success and opportunity.
- Manage workforce management system in Workday and tool configurations as required (e.g., labor law rules, hours of operation, access, etc.).
- Build and enhance workforce reporting and analytics to further improve existing processes as well as identify new opportunities for sales growth and cost optimization – using tools like MS Excel and Power BI.
- Build tests and rollout plans around workforce optimization items, selling concepts to sales leaders, and gaining alignment and buy-in.
- Identify enhancement opportunities for system & process advancements and communicate path towards adoption and integration into current workforce strategy.
- Respond to requests from Retail Leaders while managing steps such as intake, assessment, and resolution and then communicating results effectively in support of the partnership.
- Create retail calendars of schedule specific impacts and needs including sales trend, events, etc.
- Execute daily, weekly, monthly tasks related to the scheduling process.
Position Requirements:
- 5+ years of data analytics experience and/or workforce management experience, or transferrable data analytics business experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics or related area of focus and/or commensurate work experience
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office apps (e.g., Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint). Expert MS Excel skills preferred
- Preferred experience in one or more of following systems: Workday Scheduling; Power BI, Anaplan, and other analytics or modeling tools such as Synapse, Veriant or Calabrio
- Experience with querying data and database management specifically with creating and validating reports used to make informed business decisions
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for data driven concepts internally
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated proficiency (written and verbal) in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and teams’ progress to business leaders
- Demonstrated success in learning new systems and ability to identify, troubleshoot, and fix issues
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and collaborative in a fast-paced team environment
Working Conditions:
- Sleep Number offers a hybrid work environment providing a flexible balance and blend of remote work and onsite collaboration in office at Sleep Number's corporate Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Flexibility with work schedule which will include infrequent evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
