We are looking for a dynamic Panel Builder to join our Toronto team, where you will be responsible for on-site installation and support of EXACT’s process control systems at customer sites throughout Canada and the USA.
In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for the installation & start-up of new electric and steam curing systems and equipment, troubleshooting technical problems, upgrading existing equipment at customer sites, and building and testing systems at our office prior to deployment.
The incumbent must be able to establish good working relationships with our customers through exceptional customer service, technical expertise and positive results.
Reporting to the Project Manager, EXACT Curing, this position will involve frequent travel to various concrete manufacturing sites across North America requiring a combination of air travel and driving to multiple locations. The remainder of your time will involve working with our technical production team in our Toronto office.
In this dynamic role, your job duties will involve:
80% of time
- On-site installation, inspection and maintenance of EXACT’s proprietary electric and steam curing systems at customer sites involving 60% travel (with high and low periods based on project needs)
- At our office you will be focussed on preparing for installations as well as assembly of control boxes, which will include:
- Building and wiring customized control panels
- Assembling electrical components into control panels based on engineering drawings and schematics
- Laying out panel back plates
- Drilling and cutting holes for electrical devices
- Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures
- Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, and other instrumentation
- Programming/addressing modules
- Executing test plans, recording results and resolving issues
- Working closely with the Project Manager, engineering team and other technical professionals on all aspects of our curing systems.
- Providing training to customers on installed systems and post-installation troubleshooting to ensure successful adoption
- Gathering feedback and design recommendations for continuous improvement
20% of time
- Assembly of other related electronics
- Working on our Production team to assemble and deliver finished products to our customers
To be successful, you have:
- Diploma in Engineering Technology, specifically in Electronics, Electrical, Industrial Controls or Mechatronics discipline
- Hands-on experience with industrial control systems, including PLCs, related hardware and troubleshooting
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar field installer or technician role
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and troubleshoot technical drawings including schematics, and assembly layouts
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team including electronics, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and production
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem solving ability
- Desire to work in a hands-on environment, specifically at concrete manufacturing/industrial sites
- Comfort working in environments that require physical exertion, including working in confined spaces or environments with fluctuating ambient temperatures
- Exceptional track record adhering to safety standards
- Superior customer service skills
- Flexibility to work after hours as needed to ensure project deliverables are met
- Flexibility for frequent travel, including extensively to industrial sites within the USA and Canada. (Valid passport is required)
- While we take great care to plan schedules in advance, customer needs may require travel on short notice.
- A valid G driver’s license
- Excellent English communication skills
- Spanish communication skills are a bonus

Our Workplace
This role will require frequent travel to customer sites, with the balance of work performed on-site at our head office in Toronto. Our office on King and Spadina is located on the first floor of a historical building that is open concept with 18-ft ceilings and lots of natural light. Our location is easily accessible via transit.
Our head office, engineering and assembly is in Toronto. We also have remote offices and team members in Alberta, Iowa, Texas and Florida.
