AWG seeks a Cutting Supervisor (“CS”) to focus on all cutting and related activities in the warehouse. The CS will report to the Warehouse Manager and will have prior knowledge of key skills needed to manage, and get the best performance from, the wire cutting team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The CS will:


  • Manage cutting staff and ensure all equipment is being operated safely during cutting or respooling operations.
  • Train department staff on various cut machines, forklift, order process, quality, and handling of various types of wire and cable.
  • Train department staff on several types of physical work performed (parallel, coiling, cuts).
  • Track footages of wire on stock wire reels and update wire tag markers, as needed.
  • Rework and scrap damaged
  • Keep cutting area clean and organized, monitor, and ensure all equipment (hand tools, power equipment etc.) in the department are being used properly with PPE when required.
  • Return tools to their areas when they are no longer in use.
  • Work closely with Order Expeditor to ensure all orders are completed as
  • Make sure all customer requirements are being followed (packaging, reel markings, )
  • Maintaining inventory of operating supplies (empty reels, rope, u-nails, end caps, )
  • Record and provide department metrics to
  • Participate in interview process of new department
  • Work closely with project manager on large scale project shipments to ensure on time
  • Maintain facility’s security system integrity, including setting alarms, and locking doors when facility is not
  • Participate in daily call with warehouse and
  • Identify, correct, mitigate any safety hazards that may
  • Continue to develop and build processes, techniques, and strategies to improve
  • Attend training for duties related to
  • Assist during Inventory and at other times when extra support may be needed.
  • Assist Warehouse Manager with additional tasks and duties, as needed


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent in training and experience
  • Relevant training and/or certification as a Wire Cutter
  • 2+ Years work experience as a Wire Cutter Supervisor or similar role
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Reliable: serves as an excellent example to the team in terms of attendance, attention, and discipline
  • Loyal; champions the AWG values consistently
  • Good listener; processes feedback well
  • Enjoys working independently and also as part of a team
  • Excellent communicator: works easily with supervisors and with the team
  • Willing to pitch in with other tasks as needed
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel programs
