REGIONAL SALES & OPERATIONS MANAGER

Department: Sales

Reports to: Director of Sales

POSITION SUMMARY:

To be responsible for daily operations as well as achievement for all goals / targets / expenses approved under the branches budget. This individual must be knowledgeable of all Mitten Sales procedures, as well as all sales processes. This individual must have extensive product knowledge as well as an understanding of all sales-related issues pertaining to his / her marketplace. This individual must be able to operate independently as well as a part of a cohesive team. This person has exceptional communications skills coupled with the ability to achieved desired results. It is imperative this individual is active with the branch’s major accounts regarding sales, marketing, negotiations, product knowledge and service. Duties include assisting Sales in prospecting new accounts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent – preferably in Business Management
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows as well as Word, Excel and Power Point
  • 2-5 years of previous management or supervisory experience – preferably in the construction industry
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

  • Prospect new business on behalf of the branch in conjunction with Sales staff
  • Prospects to be tracked through CRM and include but not limited to: Architects / Designers / Specifiers, General Contractors, Builders, Renovators, Dealers (Buy Group, Box Store, and Independent)
  • Complete knowledge of all products and their functions
  • Conduct sales/branch meetings as required
  • Professionally represent the organization at various industry-related associations
  • Negotiate and close pricing on projects as well as pricing to various customers
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customer base
  • Understand the competitors’ products and develop actions to assist Sales ensuring competitive advantage
  • Monitor pricing and discounts to maximize opportunities
  • Work with senior management and other departments towards the development of products and processes that will maximize future opportunities for the company as a whole
  • Supervise, train, assist, and advise all inside and outside representatives.
  • Responsible for hiring, discipline, and termination of Sales staff
  • Effectively manage Channel conflict in the best interest of the organization.
  • Monthly reporting on all location / region sales activities.
  • Work in conjunction with sales leadership and Business Development Manager. Constant pipeline growth is required.

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee branch operations for sales and profitability
  • Knowledge and communication of the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Approve all expenses and credits relating to the branch
  • Prepare branch budgets (sales forecast and expenses) and manage these accordingly
  • Effectively communicate corporate goals and objectives to staff
  • Ensure branch facilities and equipment are kept in a clean and safe condition
  • Foster a proactive and positive working environment to enhance operation
  • Safety, work with corporate safety manager to ensure all best practices, documentation, and enforcement.

AUTHORITY:

  • Has the authority to negotiate pricing with customers up to a communicated level
  • Has the authority to sign and approve employee expense statements, branch-specific invoices, Credits, advertising agreements, low-discount orders, etc.
  • Has the authority to hire and dismiss direct reports.
