POSITION AVAILABLE: Sales Manager

Waterfront Hotel Downtown Burlington, ON

A Sales Manager is responsible for representing the hotel's services and facilities to prospective clients and customers in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Hotel Overview

Situated on the shoreline of Lake Ontario, adjacent to Spencer Smith Park, the Waterfront Hotel Downtown Burlington offers 129 contemporary, modern, high quality guestrooms, welcoming public spaces, 5000 Square Feet of stunning event space and amenities guests love.

The Role

As a Sales Manager at the Waterfront Hotel Downtown Burlington, you would be responsible for representing the hotel's services and facilities to prospective clients and customers in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Your Role will include the following;

  • Establish client base of individuals, organizations, associations, social, and/or corporate businesses through direct outside and inside selling to secure business for the hotel to ensure that room night sales and revenue goals are met or exceeded. Actively prospect and qualify new business.
  • Achieve goals as assigned.
  • Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Accurately produce and/or review all sales contracts, rate agreements, and/or banquet/catering event orders.
  • Monitor and handle inquiry calls and provide client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients. Disseminate sales-related information to other departments as appropriate.
  • Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients.
  • Maintain client files and update information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Produce monthly sales-related reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Attend and represent hotel at trade shows and conventions and/or participate in sales trips to key feeder markets.
  • Follow up with clients regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Key departmental contacts include all hotel departments.
  • Interact with outside contacts:
  • Guests – to ensure their total satisfaction
  • Airlines, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, ad agencies, etc. – to ensure repeat business, follow up on events, and generate new business
  • Other contacts as needed (Professional organizations, community groups)
  • Will assist in developing and implementing sales plans. Will also participate with the annual budgeting and planning process.
  • Maintain and develop Social Media and Reputation Management marketing strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Will serve as “manager on duty” as required.

ACCOUNTABILITY

This job is a sales professional with established sales goals.

Qualifications / Requirements

As this role carries direct responsibility for top line revenue, the successful candidate will be highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently to drive performance, while providing strong leadership and guidance to other team members in order to maximize results.

All candidates must have a minimum 2+years’ experience in a senior sales management role, with demonstrated communication skills and the ability to multi-task with strict deadlines. High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook required, along with savvy online & social media skills. Specific background within the Hospitality Industry and proficiency with Opera PMS are strong assets. This role requires that you must be able to travel to attend workshops, trade shows, brand meetings, etc.

You may be required at times to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as well as support other departments of the hotel such as Front Office, and Food & Beverage as required. Manager on Duty responsibilities, at times, will also be required.
