What You'll Do

The Pantex Plant is the nation’s primary nuclear weapons manufacturing facility. The site is seeking a qualified applicant to join an accomplished and award-winning Environmental Compliance Department. Candidates must have specialized training, professional experience, and technical writing ability in a combination of several of the following areas of environmental compliance and permitting: solid and hazardous waste, monitoring in environmental media, drinking water, wastewater, natural resources, air quality, petroleum storage tanks, environmental management systems, sustainability, energy management, pollution prevention, and storm water.
  • Perform duties as a team member in the Environmental Compliance Department; providing specialty job knowledge and experience to support the development of compliance strategies and written reports. Provide team input to ensure strict compliance with permits, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, and Federal and State regulations associated with sustainability, environmental management systems, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.
  • Cross train and conduct walk downs with other environmental professionals in the field and across the industrial areas to support final recommendations of a highly technical nature within a range of environmental science specialties.
  • Employ significant professional experience, education, and specialized training across multiple environmental science disciplines to lead or support other subject matter experts and ensure monitoring, analysis, and recording of monitoring data collected by technical and sampling organizations meet data quality objectives.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office software to support excellence in written and verbal stakeholder communications and reporting.
  • Assist with nuisance animal responses in the field and across the industrial areas.
  • Support National Environmental Policy Act review of projects and actions to ensure compliance with Pantex Plant goals, DOE Orders and Policies, and state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental, science, or engineering related discipline with at least two years of specialized experience. Typical environmental compliance related experience ranges from 4 to 7 years in a combination of several of the following areas of environmental compliance and permitting: solid waste, sustainability, pollution prevention, monitoring in environmental media, drinking water, wastewater, natural resources, air quality, petroleum storage tank, environmental site assessments, storm water, or environmental management systems.
  • OR a Master of Science degree in an environmental, science, or engineering related discipline with at least one year of specialized environmental compliance experience.

Preferred Job Requirements

Master of Science degree in an environmental, science, or engineering related discipline with at least three years of specialized environmental compliance experience, OR a Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental, science, or engineering related discipline with at least four years of specialized experience. Typical environmental compliance related experience ranges from 7 to 10 years in a combination of several of the following areas of environmental compliance and permitting: solid waste, sustainability, pollution prevention, monitoring in environmental media, drinking water, wastewater, natural resources, air quality, petroleum storage tank, environmental site assessments, storm water, or environmental management systems.

Specialized work experience should include:
  • Specific compliance and permitting experience working for a regulatory agency or working with a regulatory agency as a regulated entity.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and written reporting of compliance data, and leading permit calculations/ applications/ negotiations.
  • Substantial professional experience in combination of environmental compliance, sustainability, energy conservation, or permitting for large industrial sites.
  • Organizing, planning, and implementing project management responsibilities.
  • Coordinating effective oral and written communication with various stakeholder groups, including regulatory agencies.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
