Are you ready to embark on a wild journey with a team that's as passionate about the desert's wonders as you are? The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is seeking a motivated, driven, and collaborative individual to join our Guest Services team as an Admissions and Membership Sales Supervisor.

Compensation: Anticipated Starting Salary $48,025 - $50,850 per year, plus a comprehensive benefit package, which includes medical, dental, vision, life and LTD insurance, FSA, HRA, 403(b) retirement plan, paid holidays, personal business, sick leave, and vacation.

Summary:

The Admissions and Membership Sales Supervisor plays an integral role in creating and maintaining outstanding guest experiences and contributing to the mission of the Desert Museum and accommodates ever-changing business needs. The position is responsible for overseeing admissions and membership sales operations and working with senior management to oversee operations-related revenue streams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports Museum Operations. Assists in overseeing other areas of Museum operations, and regularly acts as Manager on Duty to oversee and coordinate day-to-day activities across departments.
  • Supervises Guest Services Personnel. Oversees the Guest Services department, handling all aspects of personnel management, including scheduling, payroll, and performance appraisals to ensure a well-coordinated team.
  • Ensures Efficient Guest Operations. Manages ticketing, membership sales and fulfillment, and access control operations and related equipment, to deliver efficient, friendly, and seamless guest experience.
  • Provides Exceptional Guest Service. Leads by example in providing outstanding guest services and handles escalated service recovery situations effectively, ensuring positive outcomes and high satisfaction levels.
  • Cultivates a Guest-Friendly Culture. Develops and implements service standards and training to ensure a consistent, guest-centered experience Museum-wide.
  • Drives Membership Sales. Implements on-site membership sales strategies, ensuring the team communicates the benefits and value of membership effectively. Oversees upselling efforts and trains staff on techniques to promote membership and additional services to enhance the guest experience and drive revenue.
  • Optimizes Systems and Processes. Facilitates process improvements, utilizing system tools to streamline operations, enhance guest interactions, and support staff efficiency.
  • Manages Group Reservations. Coordinates group reservations from initial inquiry through to the visit date, and supports private events to ensure smooth logistics and positive guest experiences.
  • Prepares Reports and Dashboards. Maintains various operational reports and data dashboards, both as scheduled and upon request, to inform decision-making and track performance metrics.
  • Leads Special Projects. Manages a variety of operational projects as assigned to enhance guest experience, support Museum goals, and continuously improve operational efficiency.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises multiple employees and volunteers with a variety of job functions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience/Commitment Requirements

Bachelors degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of related experience required. Employment experience in a cultural attraction setting preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong written communications skills; ability to write and edit clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals, reports, and public communications.
  • Outstanding guest service skills including the ability to successfully perform sensitive, high-level service recovery.
  • Ability to support and manage organization change - leading the "people side" of departmental/business changes and the techniques of minimizing negative outcomes.
  • Knowledge of membership and related marketing techniques and strategies.
  • Knowledge of POS/CRM, database, spreadsheet, and word processing software. Experience with Raisers Edge preferred.
  • Understands business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals.
  • This is a salaried, exempt position. Non-traditional work hours are often required with a varying schedule.

  • The ability to effectively communicate with the general public.

  • The ability to safely traverse through an unpaved natural environment.
  • Able to withstand extended periods exposed the adverse weather conditions typical of southern Arizona.
